So I wanna love this hotel so much! The people during the day are great. You will see a lot of complaints about parking. Parking is terrible here. The hotel is hidden off the main path. There are different parking lots to park in and you have to find them as there is no signage. Checking in is difficult too. I have never seen a hotel that has so little control over it's front entrance. All night there are cars parked there and it makes it hard to drop people off. Some are there overnight and nothing is done about it. All this in the loading/unloading area. At night it is like a horror movie where everything turns bad. My first night around 1am I realized I had no iron. I had to leave the hotel at 6am. I called downstairs and inquired about getting a iron. I was told I had to wait until 7am when housekeeping came in. When I explained to the gentleman that I needed it before than I was given an attitude and a half hour later the iron came up. A few nights later I was awoken by a chirping sound around 1am from the smoke detector. It would stop for a few minutes and begin again. I called the front desk. Mr. Lazy answered the phone and said he will be up there eventually. 45 minutes later he comes with batteries. When he is done he turns a black knob on the front of the detector and the alarm goes off in the second bedroom in our room so that my entire family can enjoy the hell I have been enjoying for the last hour. We all finally get to sleep. I wake up in the morning and call a manager who is very apologetic and puts points on Marriott Rewards account to make up for the stay. I decide I am tired so I will work from the room. An hour later the fire alarm goes off. Some kid pulled it. So we all evacuate and head outside. When the all clear happens where we were nobody was actually really told. Housekeeping was about 5 feet from about 10 of us. They walked back in but why bother telling the guest right...some of which were barefoot! Finally as we saw people trickling in it was indication it was good. All should be great at this point!
My last night I come back from dinner and the 5th floor smells like cheech and chong had a party. It was horrible. Guests were complaining and the response was "we are working on it" It was never resolved. The next morning I was told that they could not figure out where the pot was coming from. Really? They apparently could not figure out how to use air freshener either because there was no attempt to resolve the smell or clean it up.
It is nice when you try to keep kids away from drugs and you can pay a hotel to help introduce them to it!
The moral of my story is this....I paid over $600 for a bad hotel stay. I won't make that mistake again. There is a commitment to service that Marriott is known for. This hotel has some who care and some who don't. Pray you get the good ones! This hotel taught me that after giving Marriott over 600 nights personally...I am loyal to fault. A fault I am correcting now. Don't stay here. « less

The staff -front desk and food was above and beyond. Very helpful with directions, provided maps and suggestion. Sunday morning food lady even offered to assist me to my room as I was carrying three cups of drink. Room staff a bit iffy, room was clean but left note after 1st night that we needed supplies for three. When we returned in the evening we had been reduced to - 0- wash cloths ! Front desk came to the rescue again, not once but two times, we now have six washcloths. Another review mentioned property was older but spiffed up, agree on spiffed up. Noise was however a problem, heating system quit loud and heard coughing next door. A premium member treated us to the stay but I am going to stay with our property of they previous years, Quality Suites. « less

I appreciate you taking your time to give us your feedback. I was pleased to hear that our front desk and food service associates went above and beyond! As far as the washcloth issue – I thank you for bringing that to my attention. I have since addressed this with our housekeeping staff. I know you are Quality Suites loyal, but we would love to see you back with us the next time you are in Charlotte!!

Big rooms (Suite w/ kitchenette), free breakfast, happy hour that included free food (not just drinks), and a friendly staff pushes this up to a Very Good rating. This hotel is a little older and as stated in other reviews, could use a bit of a makeover, but overall, was a good choice for our group that came in for a two day business meeting. Free parking on two levels (either side of the hotel). Bed was a bit firm. Their is room service is from Ruth's Chris ($43 - 3 course meal) that is located across the street.
If you are looking for flashy or new, you should pass on this one. A solid choice, but neither the best nor the worse that I have stayed in. The rooms were clean and the location good. It is fairly close to the airport 15-20 minutes, but no shuttle service. Also close to the South Park area in Charlotte. Will consider staying here again on future business trips. « less

There are two parking lots. The first was full so I took a space in the lower lot. From that lot there is a round about walk to the front door but no steps. The rear hotel entrance was closer but required me to carry my luggage up two sets of exterior steps. I never felt safe in the lower lot. The room was of a nice size but some of the furnishings were worn. Pets are welcomed but at a steep fee. There is inadequate space to walk a dog near the hotel. I exited the hotel at 6:40 AM so I do not know about the quality of the breakfast. Staff were friendly , but hotel not up the Marriott standards. « less

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent visit to our hotel. I would first like to apologize that both top lots were full and you had to park in the underneath lot. When they are full it does lead to a little longer walk to reach the hotel. I'm am sorry if the front desk did not advise you that the front of the hotel is available for loading and unloading luggage. That way you do not have to carry them up the stairs. This is something that we will reiterate to them to make sure that they are explaining this to each guest checking in. As for dog walking, there is a large field across the street from the hotel that is utilized for that. Again, this is something that should have been explained at check in. We really appreciate your comments and I have shared those with our team. It disappoints us when we do not meet a guests expectations. Hopefully, if you are in the area, you will give us another try. You can contact me at the hotel and I will personally make your reservations. Thanks again and have a great day.

Stayed at this hotel with my daughter and her school debate team, and I want to call out the exemplary service meted out to us and the other schools staying there. The rooms were very comfortable & clean, although the bathrooms could use a remodel. Staff were attentive and intent on delivering good service, both at the check-in desk, in the dining facilities and common areas. This while managing around 100 high-school kids intent on making that task a challenge!! Great location, five minutes from the fantastic SouthPark Mall, and some of Charlotte's great restaurants. « less

We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. I know that lots of teenagers in the hotel can be a challenging but your group was outstanding. We look forward every year to hosting this group and can't wait for 2014!
