We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sunset Inn. The staff was so great and friendly! We loved our room and ate the delicious breakfast they provided out on our screened-in porch each morning overlooking the marsh. The property was beautiful and quiet. We have a very restful and peaceful visit. We liked that we could rent chairs and umbrellas for the beach if needed and didn't need to bring them with us for a very reasonable rate. The breakfasts they fixed each morning were delicious and healthy! The staff was very accommodating and thought of the small details. They had books you could read and a pretty good selection of movies you could watch each night. They had a great book in our room to help us figure out what there was to do in the area as it was our first time and great restaurant suggestions. We had a great experience overall and would highly recommend to anyone. We will be going back! « less

Just returned from a short weekend visit to Sunset Inn. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The room (we had Oleander) was comfortable and clean. Yes, there is a slight musty smell but I have rarely stayed anywhere on the water that didn't have the same issue. The Inn has air purifiers in the room to help. We enjoyed our rocking chairs on the porch. The beach access is a short walk but if you have a lot to carry parking is available. I think the Inn did a great job with breakfast, the blueberry muffins were fantastic! « less

In the area to attend a relative's 90th birthday party, we wanted accommodations which were nicer than the area chain motels. After researching the internet we determined that the Sunset Inn was that place. The pictures on their website are true representations of the facility and the individual rooms. All the staff go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Our room, the Hatteras, was very large, extremely quiet, attractively decorated and spotless. Jacuzzi tub, and separate shower were excellent. An attached screened in porch-larger than most motel rooms, faced the salt marsh and provided a view of several species of coastal birds and was most enjoyable while sitting on the rockers or setee swing while enjoying our coffee or tea. Breakfast provided an adequate selection to satisfy the health conscious and those who enjoy their morning sweets. It is a short walk to a lovely barrier island beach, and a short drive across the bridge affords you the opportunity to sample local area restaurants. It was a truly memorable stay. « less

My only complaint would be the lack of a bathtub...and that is just a personal preference. We thought the staff was very friendly and did a great job with the breakfast. Location is close to the beach. « less
