Well you can't really beat the location; you may come close or tie, but this is about as good as it gets for being in the center of it all. That was our #1 priority and thankfully, we nailed it.
As for the hotel overall, it was pretty good. I've traveled the world many times over, so this didn't leave me with a breathtaking impression, but it was definitely above average and had all of the amenities that one would come to expect in a full-service hotel.
Rooms: Small. We got the weekend rate, and our friends got the regular rate. Their room was about 50% bigger; ours was pretty small. Can't sit on the toilet and close the door - that kind of small. But the beds were nice and there was a mini-bar, coffee maker, etc...
We would stay here again, if nothing else for the location. We walked everywhere and we are from Los Angeles where we drive to our mailbox.
I guess the one thing it lacked was character. It was pretty commercial feeling, which is okay, but not historic like some of the other classics in D.C. Overall, a nice place for a city visit. « less

Stayed there for a convention and the rooms were some of the smallest rooms I have ever seen! There was no fan or ventilation in the bathroom and the thermostat was not effective. Often the Concierge was understaffed and the front desk help was not the friendliest. The door staff, greeters, gift shop, and valet folks were very nice though. Overall however, the rooms were way overpriced for the amount of room you get. I think the rooms at Days Inn and Super 8's are bigger! « less

Thank you for your feedback. Although we will be careful to follow up on your concerns with the front desk, I was very appreciative for your recognition of the staff. While consistent with similar hotels in the downtown market, I understand the room size may be smaller than other hotels you have seen.
Thank you again for your candor.

I stayed here for the weekend to run a half-marathon. As far as JW goes, it's a nice hotel and is on par with my expectations. The lounge serves good breakfast. What annoys me about Marriott and most North American big chain hotels is that most of them close the lounge on the weekends, which in my opinion is a big disappointment.
I got a corner room, but the hotel is overall nice and quiet. The location is great because it is close to the subway system, and there is no shortage of food around the area. It is also walking distance to the verizon stadium, and that makes it convenient if you manage to combine the weekend with a hockey game like I did.
Service is average, good but no one went above and beyond. So far I have not gone to another hotel in Washington but may start venturing. « less

Attended a business event the first week of May 2013. Room was not ready when I arrived mid-morning, but they promised to call me when the room was ready. 2 hours later I received that call, simply picked up my key at the front desk, and went to my 10th floor room overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue and the Washington Monument. Good room size, very clean and comfortable. Location was great, 2 blocks from a Metro Station after I had arrived by train at Union Station. Evening walk to the Mall and many interesting sights was a nice break from all-day meetings. YOu can't go wrong staying at this JW Marriott. « less

Spent 4 days in DC for our anniversary. The hotel upgraded us to a corner window room with views of The US Capital and Washington Monument. They brought up chocolate covered strawberries and champagne which was a very nice touch and so appreciated. DC is a great city and this location is central to all of the sights. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"I had never heard of your website, but my nephew has hotel experience and mentioned it. This is the first time I have had to book a block of rooms for a family wedding, and I was somewhat concerned about how to go about it. Your website made it easy, and and I would highly recommend it." K.C. - Catskills, NY
"I think this site is amazing! I can't wait to use this site more! I still can't believe the "meeting planner" part of the site is free!" J.J. - Albany, NY
