The German theologian Martin Luther was 3 years old and America not yet discovered, when the ”Schwarze Bock“ opened as a public bath house. The history of the Hotel’s environs, however, dates back to much earlier times: a number of ancient Roman tombstones and bricks were found in the cellar of the hotel. And even today, Roman bricks from 33 A.C. are preserved.
