I returned to the Chelsea again this past April for business. The price was great and they were very accommodating. I don't need the frills of a casino hotel, so this was perfect. However, this time (it was my third stay), the hotel definitely seemed a little worn. The hallways were dark, the carpets in the hallways seemed worn and the room seemed as if it hadn't been dusted in weeks or months! This stay felt more like an upscale motel than a boutique hotel. I stayed in the Luxe Tower and my view was great but it just wasn't quite the same. I'm not so sure that I'll stay here next year. « less

The Chelsea is a good alternative to paying for an expensive room at the casinos. The Chelsea is a short 5 minute walk to the Tropicana Casino There are a few things to be aware of before booking. First the negatives. They have valet only parking. It is $10 a night and trying to get your car out near check out time will take a while. Next we came back to the hotel around midnight on a Friday night hoping to stop at the bar for one last drink only to find the bar was closed this was disappointing considering it was a Friday night. Positives. The restaurant in the hotel (Chelsea Prime) is awesome. The location is great, ocean views, very short walk to the Tropicana which has tons of restaurants and nightlife. Rooms were clean and comfortable nothing spectacular, but for the price nothing to complain about. All in all worth checking out if trying to stay cheap in Atlantic City. « less

I just stayed at the Chelsea May 10, 2013. We will definitely stay here in the future. The hotel was retro-glam. Our room was super cute and te hotel staff was very accomodating. The front desk allowed us to switch to another room so that we could room next to our friends. Again, our room was cute and clean. Oh... let me just add, in closing, that our room did not have a microwave; but that was the only shortcoming. « less

We were looking for the best hotel rate for a good hotel in AC this past weekend, and The Chelsea came up on Priceline with an excellent rate for a Saturday night. I'd heard of the hotel before, and was looking forward to staying there.
The front desk staff was friendly and efficient with so many people checking in at the same time. The valet staff were quick and helpful, always asking if we needed directions when they got our car for us, and opening the door for me,which I thought was a nice touch. :)
While the hallway outside our room was a little dark and low-ceiling-ed, the room itself was fabulous! Boutique cozy with glamorous touches, a stunning view of the Atlantic, and an extremely comfortable bed. What more do you need?
The location was great, too. Right on the boardwalk, and only a short drive to the casino we had plans at. We would definitely stay here again. « less

What a terrible disappointment. Everything about this experience was a nightmare from start to finish. When I called to reserve, I was given the "best package they could offer": room with water view, $20 voucher for the restaurant, free passes to the spa and free valet parking. From the moment we pulled up to the place, things quickly went downhill. We waited twenty minutes for valet to park our cars. They were extremely rude and unapologetic. When we got to our "room with a water view" our jaws literally dropped. Popcorn ceilings, lumpy walls, wallpaper ripping off the corners and tops of the walls and the "water view" that they talked up consisted of a small window view of a bad neighborhood in Atlantic City with the dirty bay off in the distance, about three miles away. The large window faced a building. We felt like we were part of some bad prank. They did offer us a new room with a beach view which was much nicer (even in this room, the furniture was poorly spray painted and the nightstand was falling apart), but even that was a pain as we had to ride the elevator (only one of the three elevators worked and ran every ten minutes) to go get the new room keys, then wait to ride it back up (bags toted) to the new room. No appointments were available at the "Spa" (the lady was completely rude at the spa desk), so they referred us to a nail salon in "walking distance" called "You and Mi". My friends and I walked two blocks through a TERRIBLE neighborhood to find that "You and Mi" was boarded up and long gone. After we got ready to go out and use our $20 voucher, we found that the club was not open because of a wedding (we intentionally stayed at the Chelsea so we could use the club to celebrate our friend's 40th-I told this to the person who reserved our room) and the restaurant was also closed. The beds were terribly uncomfortable and the air conditioner barely worked and was extremely loud. Next morning, we waited so long to get on the elevator with all of our bags (at least 30 minutes), that we ended up walking 12 flights down the creepy, dirty staircase. When I told the front desk about the elevator, they were unapologetic and told me to speak to "Gary" the manager. As I spoke to him about our entire experience, he made a rude face and said, sarcastically, "sorry". Then, as I walked away, he threw his hands up and made a nasty face at me, which my friend caught. THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL SCAM!!!!!! I felt like we were on a bad SNL skit; the workers are RUDE and the place is falling apart. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! « less
