I arrive late at night to this hotel and was greeted by a night porter who looked to be out of the Adams Family or an episode of Scooby doo. I was given some contracts to initial/sign that included slapping a resort fee of $30 on the already steep tariff. This was compulsory so essentially part of the tariff but one the nickel and dime you for on arrival. I was leaving early for meetings so had no possibility to use and 'resort' services. I was also told there was no bar or food available and that breakfast was not included. The check in process took 15 inefficient minutes and then I was pointed out into the dark to go find my room at the far end of the complex. The room was tired but the bed OK. There was some constant pump/airconditioner noise outside so could only sleep with earplugs. All in all a disastrous experience and one I would not wish to repeat. Santa Fe is a great town but this shabby rip-off of a hotel should be avoided. « less

We had stayed at this hotel several years ago and had great memories. This stay, however, was a great disappointment. We booked a king patio room for 5 nights. We got a king room, but the patio was hardly useable and there was not sufficient drawer space for our clothes. We were almost below ground and surrounded by a fence! My husband thought we were in the stockade. We complained and the hotel offered to show us other rooms, but we had already unpacked. I expected that the person checking us in would have given us a room that could accommodate 5 nights' clothes and would have a nice, useable patio. The restaurant is also very pricey. I paid over $20 for oatmeal and a small OJ.

This place takes poor service, deferred maintenance and lack of detail down to a whole new level. Had to step over last nights room service tray to get into my room. You would think the guy I tipped $5 to carry my 10 pound bag would have at least sent someone to pick it up much less do himself. Naw. Yeah I know "Not my job". Window hardware removed from the windows like they were getting ready to paint. Outside patio completely disgusting. Table and chairs were filthy and trash lying around. Must have been a good party, looked like it was about a month ago. Outside lighting fixtures missing shades or broken. Bartender had to be stoned, looked right at my empty beer four times until I finally had to ask for another one. $30 resort fee waived for people checking in right while I'm standing there paying mine. If this place was further from the plaza it would rent by the hour. « less

Dear Luna L,
I'm so sorry to hear about you experience in the hotel. It is not the standard that we like to provide at La Posada. If you have time I would love to speak directly with you about the experience to make sure it is not repeated in the future.

There is a strange design feature these days - artificially run down. They build a lovely room and then deliberately make the walls and floors look shabby. This makes no sense to me but that's what they did with the room we had at this hotel. They took a lot of care to make the walls look old and crumbly because it is supposed to remind you of some "olde time" era when they did not have drywall. It even lacked any art work in the room so you could pretend to be in some sort of earthen adobe shack. What? I am going to pay these prices for a shack? Now the bathroom was phenomenal. Up to date, clean, modern, great towels, wonderful shower. Why they didn't make the rest of it match the bathroom, I will never know. Alas, it is a style I have seen before. Artificially run down. The rest of the place was great. Wonderful gym. « less

Dear Isabel S,
Thank you for taking the time to review the resort. I'm glad the overall stay was a good one. Our style does focus on an authentic Santa Fe experience and we do consciously focus on the historical aspect of our architecture. Our property has 138 different interior layouts and that is one of the items that make our property unique.

My spouse and I spent 3 nights at this resort near the historic square in Sante Fe. We stayed in a Spa Suite, which was incredible! The hotel room and the resort itself was beautiful and the service was outstanding; it is obvious that the staff at La Posada is well trained in excellent customer service and team work. We enjoyed dinner in Fuego, and socializing in the bar.....Margarita Monday's (in the Bar) was great fun and made the day special since we learned how to make authentic Margaritas and were able to taste different Tequilas and enjoy our Margaritas and social time with the other guests. On Tuesday, the resort hosted S'Mores by the fire and Wednesday offered a Wine Social for guests. The location is perfect for sight-seeing in Sante Fe; I would highly recommend this resort to others! « less
