We stayed here as a family for Mothers' Day weekend. Overall, we were happy with the experience but had a few bumps. Let's start by giving credit where it's due and saying that the spa experience was divine. I had one of the best spa experiences ever--topped only by the Grand Hyatt Walilea. The staff was lovely and my massage therapist rocked. I loved the Hungarian Salt Pool and the waterfall. I wished I'd taken the advice of the person at the front desk and spent an extra couple of hours there! The bed in the King Deluxe was only OK. I would have expected a better mattress with a pillow top or memory foam and nicer linens and pillows. The bath was nice but not luxe--the towels were more like a gym--and the toilet paper was like sandpaper (TMI says my husband! ;-) The staff was lovely overall, especially on the day we left and Suzi the concierge was wonderful. However, the day we arrived my husband tried to check us in and was told, fairly rudely, that we did not have a res. Hubby got me and I tried, but was told the same again, with edge. Gratefully, I had my res. confirmation on hand and handed it to the desk guy. He STILL pushed back and then started badgering me that I'd made the res. under a different name (Labowski--not even close to my surname). Not a great first impression, to say the least. He then insisted that I should have a voucher (I had booked online through a vacation site); when I told him that I had given him everything I'd been provided, he insisted that I go to the business center and log onto my account to print out the nonexistent voucher! I'm very on my game and am not used to getting lectured when I arrive at a weekend getaway. We've been going to Stowe for over 20 years; this is the first time I've been treated so shabbily. That experience unfortunately took the bloom off an otherwise lovely spring weekend. I want to add that the desk staff on duty when we left were lovely and even wished me a happy mothers' day! « less

I recently spent two nights at the Stoweflake after finding a 50% off deal on their website, because I was getting such a good deal, I decided to splurge on the spa premier king room. The room was a good size, clean, comfortable, and had a great view of the mountains. The bed linens were nice and the bed was comfortable. There was a Keurig coffee maker and the gas fireplace were nice touches.
I always check out the hotel book/information guide when I first arrive, and found that ours had been drawn all over by a child. I had chosen this room because of the jetted tub, but found that while enjoying the tub it was possible to see all the plumbing under the sink -- not a big deal, but I would have expected more elegant touches from this sort of resort. Similarly, the shower door didn't quiet fit into the frame, and looked like it might come out if it was inadvertently struck. Twice, the jets in the tub turned on long after it was drained -- and both times I had already fallen asleep. I don't know if this is "normal" to clear out the jets in this sort of tub, but it was startling. The bath towels were smaller than i would have liked, and there was a hole in the already tired looking bathrobe that was provided. When I informed the front desk about this at check out, the response was, "oh." One night I had to go to the front desk at about 10pm after leaving my key in the room, and was frustrated to have to call out repeatedly to get someone to come out of the back room.
The food at Charlie B's was adequate but not stellar. We were given a discount at one meal without specifically requesting it, which was appreciated (the waiter noticed that I had not eaten the chicken I added to a pasta dish -- it was tough and chewy, but I don't typically complain at restaurants). There was live music on Saturday night, and the duo continued to entertain even though we were the only guests in the restaurant. They were very good.
The Dutch Pancake just down the road towards town has a pretty good breakfast.
All in all, we had a good stay without any serious complaints. « less

As a conference/event planner, I love using the Stoweflake. My organization has been going to the Stoweflake consistently for years for our annual meeting. Whenever we can, we hold other meetings throughout the year there as well. The person that I work with at the Stoweflake has asked all of the questions and ironed out every detail before I get there. Out of the ordinary requests? No problem! This year we had to arrange for a clothesline set up for one of our presenters. We got it figured out so that it worked for the presenter and we were not in danger of damaging walls. Everything is perfect when I arrive, the staff know what's going on, and there are no problems with changes that occur on the fly. There is plenty of room so when we have multiple breakouts, it's never a problem.
Food & Beverage staff area great! Very friendly, courteous and professional. If you need something, let them know - they'll get it for you or find someone else who can. Food displays appeal to the eyes and to the palate. The food is always top quality and plentiful - a great bargain for the money.
Feedback from our attendees is that given the choice of the Stoweflake over other venues, they choose the Stoweflake by an overwhelming majority. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the location works well for our audience.
I'd highly recommend the Stoweflake for business meetings and conferences. From the fabulous service at check in right up until you leave the property, you won't be disappointed! « less

We spent the night at the Stoweflake for a conference. The room was nicely laid out. The bed was very comfortable with nice linens. There was a Keurig coffee maker in the room, a gas fireplace, robes in the closet and the bathroom was very roomy. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We dined with our conference so we didn't get a chance to try Charlie B's but the menu looked inviting. We certainly wouldn't mind booking a weekend getaway at the Stoweflake during the off-season! « less
