I am male, and my female work colleague and I had to overnight in Wellington on business. Reasonable quality inner city accommodation in Wellington is quite expensive, so we chose to stay in a 2 bedroom executive townhouse at Boulcott Suites, as it was only $249 for a two story, 2 bedroom apartment-r rather than paying closer to $400 for two single rooms in a hotel of similar quality. What I particularly liked was that both bedrooms had their own bathroom, rather than having to share.
The location of Boulcott Suites is excellent, just below the Terrace, and just off Manners Street. Most places in the very centre of downtown Wellington are only a few minutes walk away. Online booking was easy, although I note that the hotel charged my credit card for prepayment at the time I made the booking, not when I actually checked in.
Boulcott Suites comprises of a highrise hotel, and terrace house styled 2 story townhouses behind it. The townhouses are modern, clean, and well decorated, with a large screen TV, DVD player, couch, chairs and large dining table downstairs, and bedrooms upstairs. The townhouse had a washing machine and drier, full oven, microwave, cooktop, coffee plunger (bring your own additional ground coffee if you like a plunger). On the whole I thought the decor was a bit more attractive than many lower priced inner city apartment hotels which are often very sparsely furnished. Our bedrooms each had a queen bed, although I think you can also request queen and twin beds. Both rooms had very public outlooks if you left the curtains open. Bathrooms were very clean, with nice towels and good water pressure.
Each townhouse has an outdoor patio although they are pretty public and unattractive - more conducive to having an outdoor cigarette than they would be for sitting out and enjoying the evening. As far as I could see none of the townhouses have any view - in fact a number of them are directly behind a backpackers hostel. We were staying on a Thursday night didn't hear any noise from the hostel, or from other townhouses.
On the whole, I thought that the location was great and value for money was very good, especially for two individuals sharing the accommodation. This is nice quality accommodation, but I was surprised at the unnecessary cost cutting measures which really smacked of "nickel and diming". - The doors and locked and reception unmanned after 9pm - something that surprised me given the fact that this is Wellington, the quality of the accommodation, and number of rooms. I would have expected reception to be manned until considerably later at night, as it would at any other hotel. - Wifi wasn't free - in fact it was very expensive. I chose to use a wifi dongle because I had one with me, but otherwise it would have added to the bill. - there were no telephones or televisions in the bedrooms upstairs. - although the 2 bedroom townhouse had two bathrooms, one was an ensuite to a bedroom, and the other was in the hall just outside the 2nd bedroom - serving as bathroom for the apartment, as well as for the second bedroom. I was surprised that this bathroom didn't also have internal access from the 2nd bedroom. - Don't forget your toiletries. While they provided basic amenities, if you forgot anything, reception can offer additional amenities, but the price is high - where most hotels would provide these complimentary.
Will I stay there again? Almost certainly if I am travelling with a colleague. « less

Stayed at the Boulcott Suites for 7 nights in April. We on the 8th floor and in a two bedroom apartment (3 adults and 1 child) over looking the church. The Apartments are in a great location easy to walk to the whole of the city, buses basically at your door to take you anywhere you might like to go and walking distance to the waterfront. We arrived after midnight and at first getting in was a bit tricky but soon realised what we need to do and in we went without any bother.
Reception staff very helpful and pleasant.
Kitchen was only stocked for four so you wouldn't want to invite anyone over as there wouldn't be enough glasses, spoons, forks etc.
Our apartment was very clean and we didn't realise that after 3 nights the apartment was cleaned and beds remade.
Single beds in second bedroom are very narrow so if you are used to a bigger bed this may not be to your liking.
Overall not a bad place to stay.
Negative no Wi-Fi unless you pay for it - funny you can walk out into the street and get Wellington CBD free Wi-Fi! « less

We rented a 2 br apartment as we have 2 kids. The apts are behind the hotel section and the design logic appears to have been to maximise the number of apts without any regard to aesthetics or liveabilty. We got apartment 29. 1 step from our back door were the waste bins for the complex. The view from our front French window was of a plain gray concrete wall of another apartment 1.5 m away.... So all in all not a terrific ambience. The walls are thin, so will enjoy your neighbour's musical and other tastes to the fullest. The fit out is fairly comprehensive but all just a little cheap, so we popped 4 light bulbs and 2 wines glasses in 4 days, the dishwasher did not function properly etc etc. on the other hand it was central which suited us, and not particularly expensive, although I think you could do better for the price if you look around. « less

Very disappointed. The stay itself was fine, in fact quite good, but the treatment after was horrible. We had used a little confetti in a pass the parcel game and some got on the floor. We were then charged $160 because this apparently couldn't be sucked up their vacuum cleaner. My vacuum at home worked fine to suck it up so I have a feeling they need to buy new vacuum cleaners.... Not to mention the fact they tried to charge us even more for marking a couch which we supposedly slept on (we all slept in beds, they claimed we had sheets on the couch) only later to be told it was a different apartment and they had us mixed up. Be sure to add to the rental fee because it seems they try to look for additional charges long after you have left (took FIVE DAYS after we checked out for them to contact about this). The apartments themselves are fairly nice though... « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"I had already contacted Marriott prior to finding your site, but you got us a deal $24 cheaper per night than Marriott was willing to offer! Also, since the rooms are blocked for our wedding, the website with our own URL was perfect. This was the most convenient and easy to use service I have encountered since starting to plan the wedding. I had the whole room blocking process done in 48 hours, it saved a lot of time and money. Thanks!" C.T. - Richmond, BC
"My middle school band and I have been extremely pleased with the service we received from your company. I had many choices for hotels very quickly and the hotels I considered were all excellent. Even after I selected our hotel, your agents stayed in contact with me periodically and even arranged a free upgrade of my room to a suite! What a nice surprise! I plan to book my next trip through them and would highly recommend them to my friends for their group travel plans. Thanks for a great experience." C.C. - Grove Hill, AL
