My wife and I wanted to get away from Nashville for a couple days and Chattanooga was the place to go. The Downtown Marriott (adjacent to the convention center) was the perfect choice for our stay. From the moment we arrived, Troy at the valet and Elliott at the front desk made us feel welcome and appreciated. The Hotel has everything you need including location, wi-fi & business center, Starbucks, restaurant and lounge, room service and a nice outdoor pool deck. While many of the downtown attractions are within walking distance, there is a shuttle stop right outside that offers free service to many parts of the city that runs all day and is convenient, safe and comfortable to ride. The hotel staff were willing to offer directions, suggestions and coupons to some of the areas more popular attractions. The General Manager (Tom Underwood) introduced himself and was truly interested in making sure we had a great stay (we did!). Our room (428) was quiet, comfortable and had nice trees right outside the window. Chattanooga was a great place to go. Family friendly, safe, many options for attractions, good food and genuine hospitality. We will definitely go back and choose the Downtown Marriott for our place to stay. We stayed here after a Priceline bid was accepted. It was great! The room was well appointed and comfortable. Our daughter loved the glass elevators that overlook downtown Chattanooga.

Breakfast was an additional cost, but Starbucks was only 2 blocks away!
FYI - You do have to pay for parking, but you're downtown and can almost walk anywhere you want to go! « less

our first stay there last december, for our 39th wedding anniversary, was a priceline bid-found little things i did not like-somewhat worn out furniture, scratchy bed linens and towels, worn our shower curtain-mostly typical marriott attributes that the hotel is no doubt stuck with=our second stay was booked the same-a priceline bid-again, got a good price-seemed to have improved on pretty much everythingl, the last visit was the end of march-we got away for a night after my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer and we knew it would be a while before we could do it again-this time, a wonderful stay-soft beds, large corner room, ask for one, they are great-breakfast quick, cooked perfectly,, hot and one was enough for 2 adults-reasonably priced for what you get-i wish they could do something about the size of the bathroom-very small and the door barely clears the toilet-in fact on our last stay, it didn't quite clear the toilet and kept knocking the toilet seat loose-walls are a little thinner-kids on our floor but it was easter and you can't do much about families with little kids-also parking is extra-but one of the main things that make this hotel so good is the service-from valet parking, doormen, front desk, food service, you name it-they are all super-this hotel should keep all the help-don't let them get away-i think next time, we will just pay the extra money and get the hotel we like best in downtown chattanooga, a ps. to chattanooga government/tourist bureau-light up the downtown area for the holidays-it was so dark and depressing-who would drive a long way to see dark, damp and empty streets during the holidays? « less

We were in town for the Thomas the Train experience over the weekend. We generally prefer full service Marriotts over Courtyards, Hampton Inns, etc., and this Marriott did not let us down. The location is about 8 blocks from the "main attractions" of downtown Chattanooga, but we saw this as a benefit. Not only are the room rates a value, not having to deal with the crazy parking issues and higher traffic was a plus. We enjoyed the 10 minute walk to restaurants, museums, etc., but the electric shuttle bus is also a good option. The rooms are appointed in the standard Marriott decor, and extremely clean. A little on the smallish side, but with two young boys, this really wasn't an issue. The warm indoor pool was great entertainment for the boys, and we enjoyed the option to run around in the conference center next door during the very rainy Sunday.
However, the staff at this location truly make this Marriott location shine. Zac at the front desk repeatedly greated us by name, and even remembered our room number when a special request was made. The bellman, valet parking reps, and other front desk staff gave us nothing but good recommendations when it came to restaurants, activities, you name it. Like staying with friends. While the location, facilities, and rooms are average and what you would expect from a Marriott (which is good, not a negative), to us, the staff went above and beyond expectations and made us feel welcome. This means a lot to an elite member who does lots of work travel, but only recently travel with very young boys in a new family. We'll be back. This hotel should always be given a first look. « less
