We love the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach & Akemi the Senior Sales Manager. We needed a night away and Akemi sure knew what we needed and made sure that everything was just perfect. From the moment we walked in to the elegant lobby and spoke with a professional front desk agent, we knew that we had made a wise selection.
Their pool was wonderful and since it is right along the beach front, it had an amazing view. When we needed plastic cups to take our drinks to the pool, the bartender offered us the large cups with ice. Then when we were in our west facing beautiful room, we spent a lot of time on the private balcony watching the Sun set. Priceless!
We went out that night and walked to Main Street for some adult beverages and dancing and then were close enough to just walk back to the hotel and not have any worries about driving after drinks.
The next day when we were checking out, the manager who had met us on Saturday mentioned us by name and entered into a conversation with us. Talk about VIP Service.
This was all because of Akemi’s professionalism and insistence that when we come to Ventura and give the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach a try. VIP Service, Private Beach views Patios, comfortable beds, great bar, and incredible pool area. We are definitely coming back to Ventura and will stay at the CP Ventura Beach.
I am in the hospitality and know VIP Service when I see it and experience it. WOW! « less

The location is 5 star, the rooms are stylish and the bed comfortable. The view (from 702) was spectacular. The restaurant, C-Street, also is very bright and airy and has a nice contemporary flair. Downtown Ventura and Ventura Harbor are both good tourist destinations. I have been to Santa Barbara for approximately six summers in a row, but I am glad I finally made it to the Crown Plaza. It was an excellent, enjoyable stay.
The disappointing aspects were neither heater on the patio worked, one patio couch had a broken leg and the hotel had no convenience store. The restaurant was out of Crabcake Eggs Benedict, which I and others ordered, only to be disappointed. Also, there was a circus next door, but the staff were clueless about showtimes or tickets. « less

We had planned to take a longer trip up to Santa Cruz for my birthday, but work came up and we had to do a mini getaway. We'd seen the hotel lots of times on surf trips to Ventura and thought it would be fun to stay right on the beach. We booked through a web site and specifically chose a room with an ocean view, but when we got there, the view straight out the window was of the top of a parking lot; you had to step out on the balcony and turn to the right to see the ocean. (This bothered me more than it probably should have but I was pregnant and cranky. I know, a real treat of a weekend companion.) The bed was really comfortable, but the sheets were stained with what looked like ink. The toilet clogged as soon as we got there. When we called maintenance they were prompt, efficient and friendly, but by the next morning the toilet was clogging again. We were happy to get out of there.
The real bright spot, other than the fabulous location (we walked downtown for dinner; my husband walked to a surf break; and we took a morning stroll on the beach) was that when we expressed our disappointment about the room, the woman at the counter gave us about a 40% break on the price. It was SUCH a surprise -- I expected an apology and maybe a coupon for a free taco, if we were lucky. As a result, we ended up sitting on their outside patio and ordering lunch because we suddenly felt good about the place again. It made the experience much better. « less
