Stayed 2 nights. Older motel in need of updating and general maintenance. Peeling paint in bathroom on door trim and some mold was prevelant,(no bath fan) caulking missing in various places. AC cover falling off. The room had on odor of a wet dog. Front desk didn't take the time to explain the various amenties. When I checked out I was asked how the stay was, at that point I mentioned the odor, the comment I received was I must have a sensitive nose. No apologoizes. Will not be a repeater « less

I recently stayed 2 nights at this accommodation. As others have said, it is clean and everything functioned as it should. The front desk was friendly and helpful. This is basically a motel in the 70's style including the white plastic chairs by the door! The most important part for me was the location. As parking is difficult in the center of town, one can walk to town from this motel. It is about 1 mile, with sidewalk the whole way and interesting shops/restaurants as you pass. Also the Civil War park is very close. For half the price of other accommodations, I found this perfectly acceptable. I would stay there again. « less

We come to Gettysburg quite a few times a year. Last minute decision and made one night reservation here. It is very dated and sparse but clean. Rugs are stained but it is a pet-friendly hotel - usually for that reason I don't pick these hotels. The bed itself was comfortable but can't say the same for the bedding - the bedding is old and not comfy. There was no microwave or fridge but only staying one night so that was ok. We had a balcony off our room which we used a bit because we had some rain so sat out there. Nice but needs a good cleaning. We had to wipe off the chairs (two plastic) and it could use a good power washing. But we really liked that option of sitting out there. The complimentary breakfast is also very sparse but the coffee was great so that was good enough for me. This hotel would be great for big groups that get together at the hotel. They actually have a huge outdoor balcony with plastic chairs for gatherings in the nice weather. Kids could run around all they want and they do have a nice outdoor pool. The location was really good - we walked downtown at night, were able to drink and walk back to the hotel. All in all it's ok for a short stay - great budget hotel. « less

We saw good reviews regarding cleanliness and nice staff, plus a free continental breakfast, so we went for this motel for a 2 night stay for my husband, myself, and our 16 year old. Price per night was nearly half of other places in town. So glad we went! First, what a cool throwback place! The room had baseboard heaters, the old fashioned tile bathroom- 2 sinks, one in the bath, one out. There was a mini fridge and a microwave, and 2 entrances to each room. We asked for a room in the back with covered parking, and got it(so we weren't near the main street the motel is on).Covered parking(under the upstairs balcony) with an entrance leads to a good sized room. Clean.Plenty of towels.Comfy beds.A front door lead to other parking options. Wide roof overhangs and covered walkways made it possible to get around this property without getting rained on-a good thing for the night we got there. Breakfast area was clean, also retro looking, with good coffee, cereal and danish/bagels, juices, etc. Staff was nice. Location was great- the old Howard Johnson's motel explains the close proximity of the Friendly's out front(no connection to current motel, but use to be part of it), which is redone, new, clean, and well managed as well as convenient. McDonalds next door, lots of restaurants, shops, etc within walking distance. Battlefield practically across the street. Pool not open when we went yet, but it looked to be well maintained old concrete type. Lots of parking. The cleaning ladies were nice and did a great job- rooms were cleaned early. Only downsides were thin walls(could hear TV next door- not a big deal for us) and limited TV channels(also, no biggie, since we weren't there to stay in the room and watch tv all day). We will stay here again-this is no Hilton, and it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it reminded me of travelling with my parents in the 70s- nostalgic! It was truly a good value for us, and for anyone looking to stay in a clean, inexpensive motel that seems to be one of those old time, family owned type places where the owners and staff still care. « less

Within walking distance to Historic Gettysburg (1 mile). Across the street from Soldiers National Cemetery. Perfect location for bicycling around the battlefields. Bonus - some rooms' parking includes a carport, handy if it's raining (like our first day). Room was clean, and the rooms sit back a little from the main street so no street noise. Excellent coffee & juice. Bagels & danish pretty standard stuff, but that's OK. Dining area kept scrupulously clean and coffee never ran out :) If you want a heartier breakfast go to The Avenue, just a few minutes walk away :) Exactly what we wanted - clean, quiet, reasonable price, close to the things we were interested in. « less
