Stayed here for a conference and was very happy with all the amenities. The hotel is old but I think they have done a great job in keeping the old charm. I had a suite on the 14th floor and I couldn't believe at how spacious it was, it was also very clean. The Magnolia Cafe is a great stop for breakfast, it has a fantastic breakfast buffet and nice seating overlooking the Ohio River. We did a dinner cruise on the Belle of Louisville, and had a fantastic time. The hotel is easy walking distance to 4th street live which is a great nightlife location. Would definitely recommend this hotel to families traveling with children. « less

Beautiful woodwork, a 24 hour snack bar, a Bourbon bar, the perfect location, friendly staff, etc. My complaints are very minimal but the room did not have a refrigerator, the parking is $12 a night without valet, the doors to the rooms are so heavy that there really isn't a way to shut them quietly and there really wasn't any television channels to watch. « less

A recent overnight girls trip was made all the more fun and comfortable by staying here! We had a suite on the 16th floor over looking the river. It was wonderfully priced. I was surprised at how quiet it was ... ! The suite was large. Plenty of room and privacey for three of us. Great size bathroom and a great mirrored vanity outside the bathroom - so one could be showering while another did hair and make up .. it made getting up early a lot easier for three ladies! The hotel staff was all very friendly. We went to the bar in the other tower and I was surprised by the fish (yes live fish) swimming happily underneath my glass of wine. The bar is a large fish tank. Clever! If I find myself is Louisville again - I will stay at The Galt House! « less

I have been to a ton of hotels in the past ten years of travel (both business and vacation) and I will say this hotel had the loudest everything I have ever encountered. The AC units could wake the dead, you can hear the toilets flushing from the floors above and you can hear doors slamming. Usually old buildings have thick walls (oh yes this hotel is OLD), but this one must have not been built this way!
Positives our room and bathroom (in the Rivue Tower) were clean and the hotel had great TV channels (a pet peeve of mine) and a good amount of restaurant options. Parking was easy and convenient. One more note - the gym is huge and looked great, but they charge money to enter and I resent that. This hotel that was not inexpensive and everything cost something extra. The website does not say the Gym charges a fee in a situation like this I find communicaton is key.
I would say if you can go in with no expectations and get a cheap room rate it is worth checking out otherwise choose one of the many chains in the area! « less

The bathroom had ultra-white bath and hand towels and a nice assortment of amenities.
We appreciated the $12 a day in-and-out parking in the adjacent deck and its 5:00 p.m. parking deadline on the day of checkout. Valet parking at $18 is available.
