Loved the room and stayed an extra night- I'll go back- but I won't eat there again. The bar is a noisy sports bar,(not conducive to a romantic drink before going up to the room) and they cut happy hour off before 6:30, although they advertise it till then. For the most part, the staff was very nice and helpful. « less

We reserved a stay at the Travel Lodge (think druggy motel) because they advertised "pet friendly". When we arrived they said "No pets" and turned us away. We called Red Lion and their Sales Manager came to our rescue by getting us a great rate for an excellent room (Family suite) with free full breakfast and very Pet friendly. This will be the only place I stay when visiting Eureka. Oh, very nice warm (if not small) pool. « less

The staff is great at the the Red Lion and you can't beat the location. It's on 101 but not ON 101 in Eureka....it's set back far enough that you don't get road noise, especially if you are on the water facing side. They are upgrading the rooms, with super plush mattresses and fluffy pillows. There's a fridge AND a microwave as well as a coffee maker. There's a good buffet breakfast that was very reasonable or a served option with French toast, etc. « less

Even though we arrived a day earlier than planned the staff was able to accommodate us in a very helpful and efficient manner. They really made us feel like family instead of customers. We had a great view of the bay and the room was extremely large. Most importantly, the bed was so comfortable it was close to sleeping in our own bed.
We would choose Red Lion in Eureka again if we come back into the area. « less

I've been staying here for 3 years. I tried a Hampton in Arcata but as nice as the physical building was, the staff there, especially the mgr. were "wanting". The Red Lion has improved some physical things, but it's still older looking. What it really offers are great staff, really good staff from top to bottom. When you have to be somewhere for several days a month that counts big time. Food is fine and bar is great. The only issue once again is get that mold out of the bath grout/caulking...so gross. « less
