We have just returned from another very pleasant week at the Epidaurus. All the staff are courteous and friendly, many have been at the hotel since our first visit in 2007. The rooms are OK if a little functional, but you don't go on holiday to spend all your time in your room. The food in the hotel is varied with plenty of options to suit most tastes and diets. The animation team work hard at keeping all ages entertained and occupied, particularly on the one day when we had significant rain. Cavtat is a gem of a town and the bars on the harbour side are always welcoming and never pushy. The of course there is Dubrovnik, just 40 mins away by bus or water taxi « less

I'm very surprised by the negative comments of some previous guests, as my wife, 5-year-old daughter and myself found this hotel to be quite outstanding. We have travelled widely over many years, and I have no hesitation in giving this hotel, and it's most beautiful location, a very high recommendation. We found the room to be very clean and well maintained, the food excellent, and most noteable was the refreshingly friendliness of the hotel staff. This last factor was without exception, and in my experience, an increasingly rare attribute. My sincere thanks to all who work there. « less

After reading lots of reviews of this hotel, we were prepared for anything, but optimistic and open. The hotel itself is tired and shabby and the reception area dark and gloomy so we bided our time until we saw our room. Small and dark. The outlook - a concrete wall. However with lovely weather and a beautiful country to explore, we knew it was just a place to sleep. However we had gone half board as we always do - don't like to be tied down or waste food - and we have always been treated with courtesy. Everywhere else the rules regarding all inclusive and half board have been prominent and clear. There was a notice above the coffee machine stating it was for all inclusive only, but above the font round the corner nothing was mentioned. So my husband would take a beer, and I would have a soft drink. It was the same notice in the dining room, so I would have a glass of wine. Until one night when my husband was getting a beer in the dining room, and a waitress noticed he did not have a band.She loudly told him he was not entitled and he apologised. His glass was full and instead of just saying ok, but don't do it again, she took the glass and poured it down the sink! This was in front of other diners. There were a couple of more incidents where I felt like a second class citizen to the point that I did not even take free water, and did not want to use the hotel beach. We spent the rest of the holiday with picnics at small coves when we were not sightseeing. The country is so very unique and the people are so very warm that the hotel did not spoil this holday. But am very disappointed with Iberostar having stayed in their hotels in other countries. « less

Food was fine and could not fault, yes a bit repetitive but still okay, All Inclusive finishes at 11pm which is fine and the Local Drinks (aloholic or non) is drinkable. The Entertinment was okay, they tried their best each night and honestly again could not fault. Location directly on to stoney beach in to the clear waters - idyllic. A nice 15-20 minute walk along the clear blue waters brings you to Cavtat where there are shops/ lovely restaurants / churches and connections by ferry and bus to other parts of the coastline. WOULD I RETURN - YES AND ALREADY BOOKED TO RETURN. « less

We went to Croatia for our honeymoon as it is known to be a beautiful country and Cavtat just proves it. Stunning scenery but the hotel was not that great. It's a three star so you get what you pay for but the food was just the same everyday so by the 4th day it's painful to decide on having pizza again! The room was clean and a good size, balcony was just big enough to sit and enjoy the last rays of the summer as we went in October. We were lucky enough to get a sea view and being surrounded by the mountains was lovely to wake up to, even when it was a bit cloudy! Staff seemed quite miserable, no problems with service but nobody seemed to know how to smile, even when we out and about! If you are looking for a good deal close to the center of Cavtat then it will serve you well. « less
