In the past, we have always enjoyed our stays with Best Western. Our stay at the BW in Old Town san Diego was the exception and a disappointment. We asked for a suite, and we got an old, shabby, dirty, gloomy room. The room was off the street and we were awakened at 5:17 am with trash & delivery trucks. The noise went on all morning! The manager did move our room, and we were told that usually guests are told of the noise in advance. This was not true in our case. The manager did give us another room. This incident should not have happened. « less

Thank you for your feedback. Please accept my apologies for the communication failures you experienced as our guest. I agree totally this should not happen. I hope that you felt satisfied with the ways our leadership team corrected the mistake and you were able to enjoy your second night with us. The back of a few shops and a restaurant sit below one of our lower buildings. Our policy is to alert guests staying in that building of the morning business that happens there. As a result of your experience, we are reinforcing our procedures to ensure that this will not happen in the future. Once again, on behalf of our entire staff, we would like to apologize that we were not able to successfully deliver the kind of exceptional experience we pride ourselves on. We would love to have another opportunity to show you the full level of hospitality all our guests deserve. Please feel free to contact me directly if I may ever be of service to you in any way.

We first stayed at this hotel last December, and just about everything went perfect, but during our last stay last weekend, there were a few things I didn't like. During the recent stay, our room package was suppose to include vouchers for breakfast for the two of us the next morning, but it wasn't mentioned or offered. We didn't realize this until after we were inside of the room, but since the lobby was far from the room, and not getting the breakfast was not a big deal to us, we didn't bother speaking to anyone nor walking back to the lobby; just thought it was odd the woman at the front desk didn't know about our 'special'.
I know housekeeping has a lot of work to do every day, when it comes to cleaning rooms, but I would think they can see with their eyes, that there's hair in multiple spots of the shower; one spot in the back of the shower had two or three stands of long hair on the wall, so I'm assuming the housekeeper never looked up when cleaning, if it was cleaned at all before we got there. Also, one of the hand towels, which was placed on a rack above the toilet, had a long black hair sticking out of it on the left side. Another thing that grossed me out, was a blood stain on the bedspread, which I never use anyway, but I noticed it.
This hotel is beautiful, and the rooms are nicely furnished, but be aware there are lots of stairs and it may take multiple elevators to reach your room from the lobby.... otherwise, I like this hotel better than the other 3 we've stayed in over the years.
I won't let these few oversights stop me from staying here again, but I for sure will be looking closely at everything even more. « less

Thank you for sharing your recent experience! I am sorry for the two issues you experienced during this stay and am grateful you are bringing them to my attention. We get many compliments of our hotel’s cleanliness so when we find a problem it’s something we immediately take corrective action on. Your photos are helpful. With regards to your breakfast vouchers, please feel free to contact me before your next stay so that I can make certain to have our leadership manage your reservation closely. In addition, I am working with our front desk team to explore ways to make certain this oversight does not happen again. Again, thank you for alerting us. We are sincerely committed to improving guest experience and take all comments as directions for growing as a business. I am glad your willingness to stay again was not diminished. Again, thank you for your review and I look forward to hearing from you!

We accidently discovered this unique hotel several years ago. It is hidden away on a hill overlooking Old Town in San Diego. We have been frequent visitors to the Hacienda ever since. The staff is helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. We are within a short walk to the main street in Old Town and all of its color, smells and food. We can watch the ladies making homemade tortillas from our balcony and then make a quite trip to buy some for breakfast. We have sampled the area restaurants and the Acapulo at this hotel and found them all very good. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone interested in staying in San Diego. « less

My family and I stayed here for a week. I don't have an actual complaint about the room we stayed in, just that I expected more. So, I would say the rooms are nothing fancy, just slightly above average BUT the grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the location is fantastic ! You are right in Old Town and only steps away from the shops and restaurants...and even the trolley if you want to go that route. The Hacienda gives you that old California spanish-style feel and I do think it is one of the best hotels in San Diego just because of atmosphere and location. I lived in San Diego for about 5 years and go back every so often. « less
