Do not stay at this motel. We a terrible experience with this motel. First room had terrible smell had to ask for another room. No blow dryer, no shampoos, cheap towels, terrible mattresses and manager, Bob Hale was not a pleasant person. Checked in dirty, tired and hungry. Realized there was no blow dryer, no iron, no shampoos, tiny TV, plus many more unappealing things so we asked for our money back so we could find another room. We had just checked in (had only been there an hour) asked for our money back and we were told no. Clerk called manager and manager Bob Hale said we could have only half our money back. We asked if he would come talk to us, figuring he would be a fair person. Waited and hour and a half to see Manager, first the police show up, because the manager had called them, totally not necessary, we were not angry or threatening anyone. We were two, fifty plus year old women, travelling alone, and did not want trouble. The officer who responded was professional, kind and tried to help. Manager finally shows up, totally opposite from anyone else we had met in Kentucky. Not nice, not friendly and not giving us our money back. We asked him to just be fair to us. He said he had to pay 32.00 for each room to be cleaned, I realized we could not negoiate because he was not going to be honest. I asked for 48.00 back (48 + 32 (to clean) = $80. He said NO, I asked for $45 and he said No $41. I took it just so I could leave that place but it was not a fair deal and he took advantage of 2 women travelling alone. We had to drive 79 miles on a 2 lane curvy road in thick fog to find another place to stay. However, Officer Smith was fantastic and as he learned why we were visiting Kentucky, he gave us information that made our trip one we will never forget. Thanks Officer Smith you were the only bright spot in Burkesville. We will always remember your help! « less
