The hotel itself is really beautiful, stunning west coast architectural with well appointed rooms and nice staff. Unfortunately, the location is quite remote. You have to drive down a country road, through a residential subdivision and up a mountain to get there and there are problems it the construction.
When I switched on a light, the circuit breaker popped. Unfortunately, building maintenance couldn't reset it because, unbelievably, the breaker was located in an adjacent occupied room, so I had to sit in the dark until checkout. As compensation, the hotel granted me 500 points, which was worth less than $5, which I felt was pretty cheap on their part.
The other major problem is that the walls are excellent at transmitting sound. Normal conversation tones next door could be clearly heard inside my room and every movement in the hallway was quite loud.
The fitness center was really quite nice, with a fantastic pool and Jacuzzi. However, you should be aware that there is a resort fee of $15/day tacked on to your bill. Although this seems to be standard practice in some parts of the world, this is unusual in BC and proved to be a nasty surprise as I had booked online through Hotels.com and received confirmation that my reservation had been "... paid in full". In view of this fact, I consider the resort fee an unethical business practice since the price they charged me for a "paid in full" reservation was less than the price I had to pay at checkout.
Generally, I would recommend this hotel because of its beauty and amenities but would caution would-be visitors to pack a flashlight, ear plugs, and extra cash. « less

Dear sburton,
Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent stay with us. I'm sorry to hear that you experienced issues with the power in your room and noise from a neighbouring room. I understand that our Front Office Manager has reached out to you directly about these issues.
With regards to your concerns about our Resort fee, it is never our intention to hide that we charge this fee. It is noted on our website, as well as, on Hotels.com as a fee that is paid directly to the resort. Unfortunately, we are not in control of Hotels.com's confirmation emails to guests.
We're glad to read that you enjoyed the rooms, our associates, and our fitness facility. We hope that despite the issues noted your stay was a relaxing one.

This is as good as it gets. The Westin Bear Mountain is an ideal place to hang your hat. The property looks brand new, the staff are so well trained and genuine and it didn't hurt that the weather was picture perfect either.
Make time in your life to get to this place and soak in the splendor that surrounds the place.
Impeccable, spacious rooms, comfy beds, nice mini kitchen, incredible views---it had it all.
I was here for work so I didn't bring my golf clubs but the course looked as good as its reviews, probably even better. I'll bring my sticks for sure next time.
My only beef was on day four when I had to pack up and head home. « less

Stayed one night here on our 3rd anniversary and it was amazing. The rooms are very modern and spacious, the staff friendly and professional. We loved that they offered new balance active wear to enjoy the hike up the mountain for the sunset. Plenty of things around other than golf to fill your time with. If they could have somehow made the Canucks not lose again, it would have been perfect. Thank you to all the staff that made our getaway so amazing! « less

Also, we were a little put off when we weren't able to sit in the gorgeous patio lounge for a drink (which was empty) because there was a group coming in at 8pm.
Next, there was a pretty large party playing loud music in a picnic area (or something) outside our window. We had to change rooms at 10pm. « less

We had a fabulous stay at the Westin Bear Mountain. We stayed in a fifth floor suite overlooking the golf course. It was spacious, comfortable and well decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were courteous and kind. The golf on the Mountain course was excellent. Course conditions were very good and the pace of play was great. The course marshall kept the slow group in front of us moving and made it a great round. The salt water pool was very nice with lots of seating. The pool was pretty busy, but when I went at 9 am I had the pool to myself. The patio bar had an incredible view and very comfortable seating. A great way to spend an evening while watching deer run by and golfers finish their rounds. We will return as soon as we can. « less
