So many times you are disappointed when you arrive at your destination, this was not one of those times! Other than not having our reservation, made 3 months earlier, we were given a room. Room 201, on the second floor served us well. The room was clean, air conditioner worked great, nice kitchen, plus a television that actually worked. The twin sized bed was comfortable but, would have liked a king sized instead of 2 twin sized, what are you going to do? The housekeeping and front desk staff were excellent and helpful. The beach was wonderful and the pool was nice. This is a quiet resort, I loved it. A couple of suggestions would be to bring along dishwashing liquid and cloths plus paper towels, they do not supply these. If you drink coffee, bring it from home. This is the first resort that my fiancé has said she would want to return to! We are looking forward to returning . « less

I would return here in a heartbeat. Rooms were lovely, slept every night to sounds of waves and the coqie frogs, both of which I adore. Staff was wonderful, very helpful and attentive. It is a small hotel, so every room has an excellent sea view, but may not suit those who need every amenity right on the site. If you are able to walk a fair distance, there are many choices for night life and eating out. I loved sitting on the balcony reading when I had enough sun for the day. Two grocery stores close by for stocking the kitchenette up. If you chose to stay here, don't miss the Sunday BBQ next door at crystal waters. And be sure to book a tour of the island with ted's tours, he loves the island, and graciously shares all his knowledge. « less

Had a great 5-night stay. Studio was big and clean with full-kitchenette (except for stove) and two grocery stores (Tri Mart and B's) and restaurants nearby. Amazing view of the beach from the shaded balcony and very quiet. Very good A/C to counter the 40 degree heat. Staff was friendly and professional and my requests were answered quickly and efficiently. Would definitely go back to stay. « less

I stayed there March 2013 and the hotel was excellent. Great location, great room and great staff. Location is great if you want a quiet location almost on the beach. Supermarkets are near and taxis take you to nice restaurants... and to The Gap in the evenings if you want. Rooms are spacious and beds very good. Bathroom has two sinks and two big closets. The hotel is not too big and the staff is very helpfull. So I could not have asked anything else :-) « less
“White sandy beach on doorstep overwhelms a few small quibbles”

Rarely have expectations been so handily met. A small, quiet, well maintained boutique resort with access to its own white sand beach and in location that whilst not in the middle of ‘the action’ is close enough to walk/cab to it very easily. The resort is about 15~20 minute from the airport. Taxis are well regulated and should run you around US$18 (remember Barbados dollars are pegged to the USD at 1.98 to 1 US dollar: both currencies accepted in cab). Because of the peg, worth noting Barbados is not one of the cheaper islands. (I have been to US Virgin Islands and they are, ironically, cheaper)
Usual format for my reviews: the good, the not so good before offering a conclusion. Bottom line? Five star resort this is not: instead, you get well maintained, family friendly resort right on a white sandy beach with its own pool and only rooms (and their occupants) to think about. This experienced reviewer would urge strong consideration of this property. They are proud of their overwhelmingly positive Trip Advisor reviews (certificate saying as much on display) and therefore, expect the standard to remain high.
The room? Fitted out to a price point: clean, very functional and ideal for long(er) term stay. The first thing you notice is the size of the room. They are large. I looked into 4 rooms (after guests checked out) and layout was identical. Door opens and you have a kitchenette (large fridge, stove top, utensils etc provided) greets you before you walk through to the rest of your room: twin double beds that err on the small side. Some rooms are on the dated side and rattan / wicker furniture - which ages poorly - is in abundance. Large bathroom with twin basins, usual amenities, iron, (small) in room safe. The TV is room dependent with good viewing options in multiple languages: The one in mine was from 1983. I saw others with flat screens. The best thing tho is what is in front of you as you enter: all rooms face the ocean and wall to wall glass to take advantage of this. There is a screen door (lockable, tho our lock didn’t work). There is also a plastic table and 4 chairs outside. There are reading books available next to the front desk as well as DVD player rental. There are also showers available if you have a later flight (check out is midday: flights to Europe leave after 6pm)
Other reviews have mixed views on 'which' room: Bottom line? It may not matter. A few points on that: the view is the same from every room. Why? They all face the same direction; the ocean; in a SSW direction. I would normally stay in higher rooms for the quiet, but this resort is tiny: noise will not be your enemy here so why bother dealing with the smallish elevator? Room layouts too are identical in broad strokes so there too goes another differentiator. Argument could be made that ground floor for kids and the elderly. For the record, ground floor units are about 15 feet from the pool and about 50 feet from the white sandy beach and clear blue ocean.
The good? A lot. This hotel gets the basics very right. 1. Small hotel: There are 30 rooms plus two penthouses. That’s it. The room layout is identical. It is boutique. I like that. That means you are not going to see 50 people at one time at check out. That also means service can be better and more personalized. 2. Location: St Lawrence Gap (4~6 restaurents of varying standards) is a nice 10 minute walk away to the East. To the West is Bridgetown, which is about 35 minutes by foot or about 10 minutes by taxi/bus. The hotel has a stop nearby. This hotel is NOT in the middle of the action, whatever that may be. It is quiet. It is peaceful. It is relaxed. It is not even ON the main road, instead being set 50 feet from Highway 7, further reducing noise. 3. Shops: given the kitchenette, there are several stores nearby. The largest is 5 minutes walk away. Don’t get tempted and go to the one opposite the Shell station. Walk down Rendezvous Hill and you will see a large complex on your left, just past the Worthing Post Office. Best option in the area. There is also a nice ‘Coffee Bean’ there, a place selling donuts and a place selling ‘Dobles’. All worth a try. 4. White sandy beach is literally feet from your room. There is an on property pool as well. The water is crystal clear. The beach to the left of the one in front of the hotel has snorkeling rentals to see turtles as well as beach chairs and umbrellas. There is also a few beach bars there.
The bad? 1 Free wifi was on offer during our stay. You will be given a code when you check in. Speeds though were slow and constantly having to re-log in got annoying quickly. There are no other real options around (above referenced Coffee Bean being the closest) for connectivity so perhaps there is a message here.. 2. DVD player rental but no snorkeling gear rental? Strikes this reviewer as odd, especially in light of point 3.. 3. Pool bar with sporadic hours: we saw someone working the bar for about 30 minutes during our 4 day stay. Suggestion for the hotel: pretty sure hiring one person to work here, who would also oversee the beach chair rental and snorkeling gear rental should generate even higher reviews. 4. Strong current. The beach is idyllic. The water is tempting. The current is strong. It is nothing the hotel can control – obviously – but it is not signed and the beach is not patrolled. Be aware and you will be fine.
Conclusion? We would return and would urge others to consider it: small quibbles that can be managed around are easily offset by a quality establishment that is, in the main, well managed. A quiet location away from the main road yet close enough to a range of dining options makes this resort one you should stay at, provided there is availability. A 400+ room hotel this is not. And this reviewer, quite frankly, is grateful for that. « less
