This was a fun stay through Travelzoo on the Delta King, a wonderfully restored paddle boat on the Sacramento river. Staff were very pleasant and meals great. (Breakfast was included with our package). The only negative aspect, and an important one, was the lack of parking. Valet parking is very expensive at $18.00 per day, so we were forced to use nearby metered parking which necessitated feeding meters every 2 hours from 10 am until 8 pm for two days ! We think there could be some kind of validated parking arrangement while staying at this hotel. Would definitely return if the parking situation was easier, as the location is excellent, close in to restaurants and Capitol Mall. « less

From the moment I stepped onto the gangway I was greeted b a friendly staff member. I have not one complaint about my stay of 2 nights. The room was very comfortable and the shower was excellent. Breakfast was really nice. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful in every respect. Afternoons in the sun on the deck with other visitors over a lemonade and a chat is outstanding. You are right there on the Delta King... watching sea lions, birds, ducks ,geese, turtles, trains, boats and all the passers by. The only place to stay when visiting Old Sacramento....So handy . Big thankyou to all the staff. You are an amazing crew..".I will be back" « less

The Delta King, a turn of the century paddle boat, turned hotel, was a terrific opportunity to have an adventure in Old Town Sacramento. We recommend reserving a room with a river view so as not to listen to the old town night life all night…plus it has a spectacular view of the Sacramento River bridge as well as the boat traffic going by.
Finding the boat in old town took some time as I did not see any signs giving direction. Parking at the hotel is by valet service or hiking a couple of blocks to the parking garage. There is no elevator on the boat so we did have to heave our suitcases up two flights of stairs.
As you would expect, the rooms were smaller than standard hotel rooms but the appointments were still very good. The bed was comfortable and the lighting in the room was good. The bathroom is for one person at a time and lacking in shelf space, but the pull-handle toilet made up for it in quaintness.
The hotel offers a free breakfast (two eggs, meat, has browns, muffin, fresh-squeezed orange juice and coffee) which was remarkable. The dining room had linen tablecloths and napkins, the woodwork has been resorted and very ornate, and the view is gorgeous.
As I write this review on the deck of the Delta King, I wish this old boar still sailed up and down the Sacramento River…A Definite Recommend. « less

My husband and I have stayed on the Delta King twice in the past two months, each stay was for 2 nights. We have become big fans of this hotel. It is very unique, the ship has been lovingly cared for, staff is very pleasant and the location couldn't be better. As for the food -- breakfast is good, but dinner is amazing! All four dinners on the ship, 2 in the dining room and 2 in the bar, have been outstanding. The chef is the best. We know we will return again sometime later this year.
Old town Sacramento is fun to walk around and see the shops and museums, but it is not a bad walk to go on the other side of the highway to see other museums and the Capital. If you like to shop there is a very large mall just short walk away.
The hotel room size is not an issue for us, but I have seen remarks on travel sites that people commented or complained about it. Keep in mind this is an old ship that was restored. Rooms in the 1920's were smaller and darker. Just remember you are sleeping in a room that is on a piece of history. Enjoy the charm and unique space. They have larger rooms that you can rent, just get ready to pay more $$. « less
