We were looking for a weekend hotel stay so we could enjoy our Disneyland park hopper pass and since I prefer to stay at Hyatt properties and took a look at the Hyatt Regency in Irvine instead of the closer Hyatt near Disneyland itself. The Irvine property was about $36 cheaper and about 10 miles further so we took the chance and we weren't disappointed.
The Hotel itself was very clean and bright. There is a tropical theme here and if your walk the grounds and go by the pool or even eat on the restaurant patio, you would think you were in Hawaii, minus the humidity of course. There’s even a tennis court for hotel guests which we thought is pretty cool. Too bad we didn’t bring our rackets. The pool was heated and there is a Jacuzzi. The only thing about the pool area is that you can hear the freeway nearby. Just bring an iPod with headphones and that noise will disappear.
The rooms are your standard Regency rooms, a little dated and need of more electrical outlets at the room desk but very comfortable, especially the bed. The bathroom however was somewhat smaller than I’m used to and could use a plumbing upgrade. Water pressure was good although hot water took a few seconds to get going. The TV in the room is your typical LCD flat panel and all the channels worked.
The Lounge just off the lobby was appropriately dark with a modern look and plenty of TV’s for sports viewing. We only ate the Hotel’s restaurant for breakfast and both times it was very good. The Pacific Omelet was excellent (highly recommended) and the buffet was of very good quality.
All in all I liked this place. It mostly target Business people but for the price we paid it’s was worth the stay. « less

This is not the first Hyatt Regency in which I've stayed and I actually stayed here last year about this time, so I can compare things and know what to expect from Hyatt. You can expect the following from any hotel in the chain: The rooms will be spacious, well designed and attractively appointed. There will be a "casual" cafe for breakfast and lunch and a pricier restaurant, usually the only dinner option if you eat at the hotel. They will be clean with a courteous, attentive staff. Things such as Internet and local phone calls will be extra. Regencies can generally go head to head with lux hotels anywhere.
So it was surprising to me to find the chair in my room spotted, as was the carpet. Even the hallway carpet needed a good shampoo or replacement. The wall paper in the hallway was blistering and starting to peel in places. The walls and the baseboards were scuffed here and there. None of these things affect the functionality of the hotel, just not anything I would expect at a Hyatt Regency.
In common with many hotels built before the wired/mobile age, there are not enough plugs in the rooms. In my current room there are three. One is used up by the mini bar and TV, the other by all the lamps being plugged into it along with the transformer for the clock radio/MP3 dock. The table lamp used one of the two sockets in the third set of plugs, leaving exactly one for phone charging, I pod charging, pad charging and any other electronic device a traveller might have. There is a plug in the bathroom but I do not recommend charging electronic devices next to the sink. Be aware that the lamps do not have plugs and since there is no ceiling light you will need the lamps.
I have learned to bring an extension cord and one of those things you get at the hardware store that turns one plug into three when I travel. I find them as essential as my toothbrush. Kind of silly to have to think about hotel room wiring, but that's the age we live in.
One last quirk: The coffee maker makes one cup at a time and there is no pot. You get 2 bags of coffee, 2 tea bags, enough for 2 cups of coffee and 2 cups of tea. You put your paper coffee cup in the coffee maker. The coffee maker was hidden in the closet and the coffee & tea was hidden on the bottom shelf of the bed side stand. I had to look around as I expect in room coffee at hotels, especially at these prices. « less

Stayed at the hotel for two nights for a business conference. Room was very clean and spacious. Nice high shower, which was nice because I am tall. Free internet at the cafe in lobby was stable. Only disappointment was the van service. Only brings you to the airport and back but will not bring you anywhere else, unlike some of the other hotels I stayed in the area. Bed was hard as a rock while the pillows were very fluffy. I prefer that the other way around. « less

We stayed in a Junior Suite which was very spacious. The bedroom was separated from the main room and had its own flat screen television. The main room was quite large with a sofa set opposite a large flat screen television. There was also room for a round dining/work table with 4 chairs and lots of room to spare.
The room and furnishings were in good condition. The bathroom is a touch on the small side but was clean. The king-size bed was very comfortable.
Our room rate included the buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant, 6ix Park Grill. The service offered at the restaurant is absolutely top-notch. The food is good with a selection of Belgian waffles., eggs (scrambled yellow and plain egg whites), chicken sausages, homestyle potatoes, smoked salmon, fruit, yogurt, cereals, breads & pastries. There is even the option of having a custom-made omelet. Beverage selections available were juices, tea, and coffee.
Of notable mention is the service received from Steven Gilroy, the property manager. He was incredibly accommodating and courteous. We had previously stayed at this property before and our room that time was a touch subpar (not as clean as should be) but Mr. Gilroy has definitely rectified any previous wrongs as well demonstrated the level of service and cleanliness Hyatt Regency is known for. I believe that previous unpleasant situation was an anomaly and not the norm at this property. « less

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We strive to provide authentic hospitality and it sounds like Steven did a great job conveying that on your recent stay. We get many compliments on our new Hyatt Grand Beds and we are happy to hear that you were comfortable. 6ix Park Grill is also a the subject of much praise, as all of our guests enjoy the California Coastal cuisine, the flavors from the wood fire grill, and the fire pit on the patio. We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your experience there as well. We very much appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon.
