Welcome to Orange County
Orange County, a coastal county that encompasses 34 cities, is famous for its supreme tourism attractions like Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm and several beaches. It is home to more than 3 million people, making it the third-most populated city in the U.S. While most population centers in the U.S. are typically identified by a major city, there is no defined urban center in Orange County, although Anaheim is considered the main hub. It's helpful for visitors to know that OC consists of mainly suburbs except for Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Fullerton, Orange and Santa Ana. The stunning coastline is truly inspirational - the city of San Juan Capistrano is where the first novella about Zorro takes place.
The ideal citrus-growing climate of Orange County has been drawing visitors for generations. In the summer, temperatures peak in the 80s, and in the winter, averages hover in the high 50s - perfect for warm-loving travelers. Orange County is quite spread out, encompassing more than 790 square miles, so getting around can be difficult if you don't know where to go or the best way to get from place to place. The Orange County Transportation Authority operates the bus system here, with about 77 bus routes and 6,200 bus stops countywide. You can travel around Southern California via Metrolink, SoCal's rail system providing access to city centers. Otherwise, renting a car might be your best option.
