I would expect 2 different streams of reviews, one (bad) from the rooms on the highway side and one (good) for the rooms facing the inner yard...I have had a room in the first category for two nights - really a nightmare, I couldn't bear the noise and to make it even worse there was an air pipe of some kind for ventilation purposes fixed on one of our external walls adding the cherry on the cake! I am talking about room 1000 on the 10th floor - do yourself a favor and avoid it at all costs! After two days I went to the reception where the staff was nice and kind enough to offer me a room on the other side, three floors lower, huge difference, I slept like a baby the next 5 nights. This was my second similar, actually identical, experience with this hotel and the lesson I have learnt is to always opt for a room on the inner yard; except for the noise issue the rest was pretty much as expected, well...the price is also higher than usual for the offer. « less

The TV are old or very cheap the carpet needs to be pull off and get a new one they charge you for parking but half the time the ticket they give you don't work . Being a member if marriot rewards I was expecting better but next time I know better look at the rooms first then decide to stay or go somewhere else « less

My husband and I wanted a short, quiet getaway for the weekend. Despite the ridiculously high price tag for this level of hotel and the $18/night parking, I bit the bullet and booked it because its so centrally located. As it turns out, I haven't received a wink of sleep or a moment of quiet. The freeway is literally across the street and LOUD. I was told that the hotel is sold out and there are no rooms facing the other direction.
In addition, our view is not only of the freeway, but a disgustingly dirty mezzanine on the floor below ours.
When I opened the curtains and found this view, I also looked down only to find trash left from the last room occupants sitting on top of our air conditioning unit.
Lastly, housekeeping left the window open. There are no screens and there were tiny bugs flying around our room.
On the flip side, the room was nicely decorated and the bed is super-soft, but it really doesn't cancel out the other issues, primarily the noise. I doubt that I will be getting any sleep tonight...can barely hear myself think. « less

I made reservations online for a King Bed, Sofa bed in room, received a confirmation with the same description. I have to say I did get to the hotel late in the evening as my husband had surgery at Mercy Hospital earlier in the day and it took much longer than anticipated. So by the time I got to the hotel, I was very tired and just wanted to shower and go to bed. I got a room on the sixth (6th) floor, next to the ice maker, that had two (2) Queen beds and no sofa bed. HHHmmm something must have gotten mis-communicated....I didn't reserve this type of room online....then to add to my disappointment, I have a room facing the freeway and you hear cars, trucks, motorcycles, semi-trucks, ambulances, police cars, etc...ALL night long. In all fairness to the hotel, I did not ask for another room and I did have to ask if I could extend my stay as my husband is in the hospital longer than we anticipated. They also charge $18.00 a day to park, which is more expensive than Maui, Hawaii where I stayed at the Hyatt and it was $10.00 a day! The good thing about this hotel is that it is beautifully decorated, well kept and clean. It is centrally located, and close to all kinds of things to do. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I don't really see this as a family hotel, but more of business persons traveling. But I do agree with all the other reviews of it being well kept and clean. « less

The hotel is centrally located in the San Diego area. I found the staff to be helpful and kind. We had booked a room that included a $20.00 voucher to the Bistro. We ate breakfast there throughout our stay. It was fine, but nothing spectacular. It just like eating at a Starbucks. I went to the exercise room and one of the treadmills stopped working mid-way through my run. I told the staff and was told they would take care of it. I did not get a chance to go there again to see if it was fixed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there. « less
