If you want to feel like a celebrity, there's no other place than the Mandarin Oriental, New York. Right in Columbus Circle and next to the Time Warner Center, the Mandarin Oriental hotel is exactly what you expect from a five star luxury property. Don't expect anything other than top notch service from the time you arrive in the opulent lobby on the 35th floor until you arrive at your room overlooking Central Park, there's nothing to compare to this hotel. As a guest in a VIP room, my first night. Other nights, there was chocolate waiting or another amenity. You do pay for perfection, but it is worth every cent. No matter what your desire, the MO is happy to accommodate. « less

After travelling from Australia for 23 hours there was no better way to start a New York trip than by checking in at this amazing hotel - this hotel offers such a sense of arrival when walking into the opulent but welcoming lobby on the 35th floor and It was so lovely to be greeted by my name without even having to announce myself! Unlike some hotels the opulence continues in the hotel's rooms - high ceilings - floor to ceiling glass opening out onto the epic views of Central Park, Columbus Circle and the Upper East Side . I really loved the bathrooms as well - oversized shower, separate deep bath, TV, beautifully lit mirrors and I don’t normally use hotel supplied amenities but the red flower products were really nice. I had breakfast included in my rate and whilst you have the option of in room delivery I really enjoyed starting the day with breakfast down in Asiate on the 35th floor - it's a really beautiful room with gorgeous light and with equally great food and service to match. Yes this hotel is on the pricier side but I never once questioned that my money was not being well spent so I'd highly recommend this property - it's definitely worth the splurge and I cannot wait to stay again! « less

Everything about this hotel is very nice. The pool is wonderful and the staff is very well trained. The location of the hotel on Central Park is a main reason you are paying top dollar. But if you get a room with a view of a side street and not Central park you will be disappointed. It is imperative that when you book your room, you call and make sure that you are getting the correct room exposure. Otherwise the hotel has pretty much everything you would want in an upscale property. « less

Being a wedding guest is always an honour, but when I was invited to an old friend’s wedding to a beautiful girl from Manhattan, I jumped at the chance to visit another old friend – New York – the city that never sleeps. Nor do I, so we’re the perfect match…
The Mandarin Oriental is quite simply the best. Good enough for the A-list (of which we saw our fair share), we had room 4308 overlooking Columbus Circus and the incomparable Central Park. With a chaise longue and floor to ceiling glass walls tempting you to do nothing but take in that view, we were thoroughly spoilt. Exceptional customer service, a pool on the 35th floor overlooking the Hudson River, an ever-so trendy lounge bar where you can mingle with the cool folk and Sunday brunch taken in the Asiate restaurant with its panoramic views were just some of the things I loved about this plush hotel.
Location, location, location… The Mandarin Oriental sits as part of the Time Warner Center on the edge of Central Park, where we took a long walk. It’s a people-watching, bird-spotting paradise. In the other direction is Times Square, the Highline Park which we so enjoyed walking through, and the Rockefeller Center, which offers, in my opinion, the best views of the Manhattan skyline. Despite this being my sixth trip to NYC I had never been on the Staten Island ferry that glides past the Statue of Liberty so we did that, and of course we did our fair share of partying. The Meatpacking District offers up some cool bars and check out Bleecker Street for delicious and inexpensive world cuisine. Each time I visit New York it gives me something new to spot and adore. It’s safe, fun and can be oh-so romantic too. « less
