Seems I've stayed at nearly every other hotel in downtown Toronto and this was a first for me. Good location right behind Nathan Phillips Square and City Hall. Near Eaton Centre, subway, Queen's Park, etc. The lobby looks like a modern building that someone decided to decorate in 70s decor; it's odd. Desk help was fine. Lots of conference attendees there.
The elevators don't have any up or down lights in the elevator lobbies so you have to rely on scanning four elevators and hope the one that comes is going in your preferred direction.
The room was fine, just staying for one night. The furniture is a bit dated. The bed was extremely comfortable (that's what I was staying for, right?) -- a very good bed.
Bathroom: no bathmat; bath towels did not match; the hot and cold faucets went in the same direction which took some getting used to; the bright fluorescent lighting was OK; Crabtree & Evelyn amenities were nice.
This is probably a good tourist hotel if you're not going to be spending a lot of time in the room. As I said, the bed was comfortable and I slept very well. And the price was right. « less

This hotel proved to be a good base from which to explore the city. I stayed for five nights in total at a very reasonable price, quite a lot cheaper than most of the main hotels were priced at. When I arrived they explained that the hotel was in the process of changing hands to another chain and that a lot of the rooms were being renovated, but this didn't cause any problems. The room was a good size, everything was clean and they provided free internet access so I had no complaints. It's also right in the heart of the city and is somewhere i'd be happy to stay again. « less

We stayed at the The Metropolitan Hotel during our trip trough Canada and the U.S.A. in the summer of 2012. We arrived by car, and the Hotel had good parking spaces underneath the hotel. That's a big plus in a big city like Toronto.
When checking in we got really dissapointed. The lady at the desk told us that all of the "non-smoking" rooms were fully booked so we had to stay at a smoking room. This was not the kind of room we booked, but before complaining we decided to take a look at the room.
When entering the floor level of the "smokin-rooms" the smell was already really bad, and when opening the door of the room it got even worse. It smelled even worse then a packed bar on a good friday night. The smell was too much for us (since i have astma), so we went down to the reception to ask for a new room. At first they were not able to give us one, although i mentioned my astma problem. Later that night we were able to get a new room, since a few of the guests didn't show up. For me this was not the way to deal with a complain, and if i didn't ask it again that night they probably wouldn't have told me.The non-smoking room we got wasn't that good either. It was small, hot, dusty and old.
The swimming pool was a nice extra, but again it seemed very old and not that clean.
The location however was great, in the center of Toronto. But i can imagine there are better hotels to stay in the center of Toronto. « less

Room was horribly run down. There was a huge hole under my sink. The fan sounded like a helicopter. Weird stains on the chair. My light didn't have a lampshade. The only thing nice about the room was the bed. When I complained to the front desk, I was basically told, sorry, but nothing I can do about it. I understand the hotel has been bought out, but that room should never have been rented out. « less

I stayed here 2 nights while attending a conference in the city. The room was very old looking and needs some updating. The tv was very old and wallpaper was also pretty old. The bed was comfortable and the Crabtree and Evelyn bath products were a nice touch. The location is great, close to great restaurants and shopping. It is fine if you aren't looking for anything fancy and can overlook some of the more outdated things. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"When people provide customer friendly service in today’s world, it should be applauded! So many businesses have taken almost and adversarial attitude towards the customer, in other words, they over compensate for a consumer not following through. As a business, it is my understanding, that the business should always follow through and do as they promise! Loyalty between consumers and businesses should remain alive, profit above service is a bad plan and will cost the business in the long run!" R.F. - Denver, CO
"This is the first time I used your service and I was very satisfied with the software program. It was very user friendly and had so many different options you could use. There was a great selection of hotels to choose from. I have finalized my booking with Liz of Bay Park Hotel and have stopped all other biddings. Thank you again. It made my job a lot easier in finding a place to stay for the group!" J.W. - Monterey, CA
