We recently stayed at the Viceroy for two nights to attend a wedding at the hotel. I booked into the Wetherley suite at an average of $400/ night. The room was in very poor condition, the sofa was filthy, the door on cabinet in the living room wouldn't stay closed, the hot water tap in the shower just kept turning and when trying to turn it off you had to step outside of the tub or risk getting scalded. In addition, there was the standard save the environment message and hang up your towels to reuse except there were no towel racks. We and our next door neighbors thought there was an earthquake, however we discovered the vibrating floor was due to the laundry located beneath our rooms. I spoke to the front desk and mentioned the deficiencies in the room but was treated with indifference. I received a survey from the hotel the following week and provided feedback on the experience along with my name and phone number as I was very willing to provide detailed information, but again received no response. I strongly recommend that people avoid this hotel and find other accommodation in Palm Springs as this hotel is beyond disappointing. The poor condition of the rooms was a common topic amongst the 80+ attendees at the wedding as we discovered we were not the only ones experiencing issues with their accommodation. « less

The location is great. Walkable to the downtown shopping and dining. It's right at the foot of the mountains so it's picturesque. The grounds are charming old palm springs casitas. My room, 517 was a bit tired. There was black mold(?) in the white grout of the shower. The tiles were also chipped. I love an elegant hotel bathroom, this was NOT. Small sink no tub a tiny cubicle shower.
The front desk staff was fantastic for both check in and check out. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant Citron, the food was great. The staff was terrible, the host who sat us, the night bartender who we encountered for two nights was maybe the worst I've ever seen in resort. The waitress, forgot several items that we'd asked for and generally not very polished. The day bartender and the pool serving staff were great though.
There are three pools each very nice, but if don't get there early there will be no place to sit. There is fairly limited seating at each pool. We ended up sitting in the bar and waited watching for someone to get up which they eventually did. There are many lovely resorts in PS some small and boutiquey others large chain operations. I think that you might want to investigate other options. I might stay there again because there were definitely some things I liked but, I would have a hard time recommending this to someone else. « less

We stayed for only one night, our last in the desert. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the grounds are lovely but the room was hideous. Don't accept room 306! Very small, no outdoor sitting, window at ground level to open, bathroom stall came with black mood growing in the grouting, terribly dim lighting in both bedroom and bathroom and one chair in the bedroom. This room should be a storage closet! So disappointing for our celebration. The $249. Charge was a complete rip off. Also check your bill, I waited 25 minutes for it to be corrected. « less

Dear Carol1997,
Thank you for letting us know about the condition of the shower, I am looking into immediately and why the bathroom was in that condition to begin with. I do recommend staying in the Premium Studio rooms as they are much larger and have a patio or balcony than what you were in (Regency King). Should your plans call for Palm Springs again, please let me know. I would be happy to extend a courtesy upgrade.

I'm a big fan of this hotel it's one of my favorite places however the fun lively vibe is gone. This time it was way to quiet and almost boring. Something is very different now can't really pin point it. An attractive front desk girl would certainly help. Maybe some cool upbeat music playing around one of the pools would be nice. The beautiful people that used to frequent this place are almost all gone. I don't expect the party scene of the ACE but I don't want it to become something like a retirement home. I also don't like seeing a uniformed security guard on the beautiful grounds it just doesn't fit with the look of the place. I'm not ready to give up on this place!! « less

Dear DrFirully,
Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback. We are actually in the process of updating our soundtrack / music as I agree with you. The security guard is there from 10pm - 6am for the security of our guests, however should blend in and will be reviewing uniform standards with them. You've been a loyal customer and hope you do come back to see your input at work. When you do, please reach out to me directly.

Bottom line: a good effort that failed to deliver. Check-in and check-out both took 20 minutes (at the desk) and involved medium-level inconvenience. An excellently decorated room disappointed because it was starting its descent into shabby. Nothing was really wrong, but there were minor breaks and signs of wear, and a bit too much dust. Some of the common areas were also utilitarian, and there were sound issues. None of this would have irked if the price was in the "cheap and cheerful" category, or if I was drinking vodka all day, but that wasn't the case. In terms of the other facilities, the exercise room was too cardio-focused, and a slew of weddings kept us away from the nicest pool and garden areas. Restaurant was sophisticated, with great staff, but a tad pricey. « less

Dear view_h0und,
Thank you for taking the time to review our resort. First let me apologize for the slow service you received at the desk. Check-in and check-out should not take 20 minutes so if there was anything specific that slowed the process down, would you mind sharing with me directly so I can ensure that this doesn't happen again? We only host one wedding a day to make sure we can keep at minimum one pool open while we close the Regency Courtyard & Pool for an hour, please feel free to reach out to me directly should your plans call for Palm Springs again but I do thank you for greater feedback on your front desk experience.
Sincerely, Olivia Prescott Director of Sales & Catering D: 760-318-3018
