A bright and airy, ultra-modern building designed by prize winning architect Renzo Piano, the Italian architect most famous for his work on the Pompidou Centre, the Hotel de la Cité opened in November 2006 and is one of Lyon's newest hotels. It is set between the river Rhône and the vast Tête d'Or park, at the heart of the famous urban and architectural project known as Cité Internationale.

A car journey between Lyon (LYS) Saint Exupery Airport and the hotel takes 30 minutes, depending on traffic, and the taxi fare is approximately 45 Euros.
Alternatively a shuttle bus operates to the nearby Part Dieu train station, which is either a short 5-minute cab ride away or an easy ride on the C1 bus that stops immediately outside the hotel.
