Gritty sexy only begins to describe Thompson LES, the 141 room hotel located on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Informed by the traditions that have made the LES the city’s most intriguing neighborhood, the hotel’s industrial design is complemented with the works of some of America’s most influential artists. Each room features a custom designed lightbox by Lee Friedlander, the lobby showcases the work of legendary painter Peter Halley, and the base of the pool displays a portrait of Andy Warhol by his muse and confidant, Gerard Malanga. Conceptually designed by Ed Rawlings Architects and Dodd Mitchell Design, with interiors by Jim Walrod of Murphy & Dine, the hotel embodies the ultimate in clean, industrial New York style. A private outdoor bar provides sweeping views of downtown Manhattan. The 18 story hotel is topped by two Thompson Suites and a signature bi-level Thompson Loft, and also houses a fine dining restaurant- SHANG- with celebrity chef Susur Lee at its helm.

We are within great proximity by taxi or subway to Battery Park and the Financial District, as well as Midtown, the Theater District and all of Manhattan's Museums and special sights. |
