This hotel is the best bang for your buck in the stretch between Sherman Oaks and Thousand Oaks. The hotel is located in a nice area of Calabasas. There's a grocery/drug store and food options nearby. The hotel is basic but provides everything you would need for a night or two. I don't know if all the rooms are this way but mine was clean and the walls appeared to be recently painted. Bathroom was clean as well. TV was newer flat panel style but not a very big screen. One odd aspect of the hotel is the oddly narrow walkways outside the rooms on the 2nd story. 2 people with roller suitcases would not be able to pass each other. Also, the walkways change levels at various spots forcing you to lift your suit case up and down the stairs. I would have taken the elevator but I couldn't find it. I'm not sure there is one. I recommend getting a 1st floor room for this reason. I arrived late at night and had to check in through the security window. The two gentleman behind the glass were very friendly making small talk and making sure I knew the best way to get to my room, etc... So overall, if you just need a clean basic room in a safe area, this hotel is the best deal around. With the cost of everything going up up up, its nice to find good values like this. « less

Although the price was good, our experience at this hotel was not good. We drove three hours, with two kids excited to go swimming the minute we got checked in. After walking into a room that smelled like cat urine and finding the pool closed, we quickly decided to go to another hotel. We explained to the front desk our issues and was told there was no way around a room charge for that night (even though we were in the room less than 5 minutes). Not worth it! « less

Our short stays here have always provided good value, comfort, cleanliness, and good location. Our most recent stay was just as good and even a little better. They've done some repainting/touching up/new TV (at least in our room) and the place generally looked better than on previous stays.
They have done away with the free breakfast muffins but still provide decent coffee.
We visit here because of its easy location for Pepperdine U. « less

FAIR WARNING from a seasoned traveler. Buck up and spend whatever extra $$ you have to for a different hotel. We were there on business for over a week (our usual hotel under renovation), and had I been alone I would have packed up after one night. However, I was in charge of a group of people and was stuck (felt obligated to accompany). Never have I experienced such failure from hotel desk personnel and "management" in solving the most basic problems, for which I unfailingly had to trek to the front desk to discuss. Issues began early, with inability to provide one "CONFIRMED" room due to being oversold. Worn, uncomfortable beds with lumpy pillows, filthy carpet and faulty showers which barely dripped enough water to bathe, undependable internet requiring front desk purchase of prepaid "coupons". (Yes, you always wait first for them to serve several other parties) Noise---some at 2:00 a.m.---from unsavory guests, and a laundry facility which was not unlocked until 9 a.m. Pool CLOSED. Breakfast---forget it. Watery coffee is good enough for you!! Tiniest parking spaces I ever saw, under pine trees which dripped sap onto the car. ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE!!!! « less
