Truckee and North Lake Tahoe is well known by spring/summer/fall visitors who relish the chance to wade in the crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe or river raft down the Truckee river. Many people love to walk through the fields of wild flowers or spend a day biking or hiking through the forests.
Winter enthusiasts regard our area as a gateway to the highest density of ski resorts in North America. Ten alpine ski areas lie within a 15-mile radius of this quaint mountain town, and skiers love that our rugged terrain receives a phenomenal 400 inches of snow per year.
The property is close to the shopping and nightlife of downtown Truckee, and the town trolley makes hourly stops at our lobby to deliver guests throughout the Lake Tahoe basin.
100 rooms, 2 floors, inner corrider, entirely non-smoking facility, free extended continental breakfast daily from 6-10. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, fitness room included. Meeting space upstairs.

Formerly the Larkspur Inn, this hotel was a pleasant surprise on our trip through California Gold Country and the Lake Tahoe region. We spent a total of 6 nights on the road; this spot was the perfect location for our Truckee visit. The lemon and lime ice cold water at check in was such a nice colorful touch. White thick towels at this hotel were a welcome sight after a few nights of seeing thin and tattered towels at other places. The in room coffee was great, and the breakfast was far better than average. Staff all seemed friendly and they did their best to honor my request for a quiet room away from as much noise as possible. The room rate did not seem exorbitant and we will definitely return on our next visit to the Tahoe area! « less

This hotel is reasonably priced and offers many amenities like free wi-fi, parking and breakfast, plus they have yummy cookies in the lobby and also sell the items most often needed while traveling, Like Hall's tablets, aspirin, and other assorted items. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends. The jacuzzi was very relaxing and the atmosphere was welcoming. « less

We had a terrific night at the Larkspur. Without planning in advance we showed up around 9pm and luckily they were able to accommodate us and our dog - even a special little squeaker toy for our pup. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helped with some late night dinner recommendations. The bed was comfortable and the room large. Thanks for the great service! « less

I usually stay at 3 hotels consistently when going skiing in Tahoe; Squaw Valley Lodge, Hampton Inn and Plumpjack Inn at Squaw.
Being that is late season and the ski conditions aren't so good I wanted to stay at the lowest price hotel since it was a quick 2 day trip and I was alone. The location of this hotel is prime, being centrally located in Downtown Truckee and within a 15 minute or so drive to Squaw, Alpine and Northstar.
The rooms were clean and reasonably nice. The king size bed was very comfortable and there is a great desk in the room for your laptop. The Internet is free and quite fast.
The TVs in the room are very old and quite small however. These could be easily updated for a low cost 32 inch flat screen.
The one thing that I noticed in the room was that there was a towel that looked a bit old, which stood out to me since hotel towels are always so clean and white.
The pool and hot tub area is so so and is nothing to rant about.
The gym seemed to be very nice although a bit small however it is in proportion to the size of the hotel.
Overall this hotel is pretty good value. The staff was generally friendly, especially the younger gals. There was one front desk woman who was a bit cold which is unusual in such a friendly town.
If your looking for a cheaply priced hotel for a quick weekend ski trip then this place will do. Hampton Inn is substantially nicer however it is a bit more expensive.
