Hampton Inn is located at 986 East State Street. We are approximately 3 to 4 miles from the Ohio University Campus area. Our location puts you in the heart of the restaurant and shopping district of Athens.
Within a half mile of our property you will find a multitude of restaurants including; Ruby Tuesday Restaurant, Taco Bell, Arby’s, Abrio’s Pizza and Tavern, Burger King, McDonald’s, Lam’s Garden, Grand China Buffet, Casa Lopez, Kroger’s, etc. A new family style restaurant "Leghorns" is adjacent to the hotel.
We are adjacent to The Market on State (formerly the University Mall) and the Athena Grand Theater. Wal-Mart, Kroger, and other shopping venues are within walking distance of the hotel. For joggers and/or walkers we are also just across the street from the 19 mile Hock-Hocking Adena Bike Path.

I had business with Ohio University, so I came to town the night before. The hotel is located in a commercial area, near various dining options and stores. It took less than 10 minutes to get to the university the next morning. The staff was helpful. I appreciated that they had printed direction cards to specific campus locations. The room was somewhat noisy between the room heating/cooling unit and the guest room door closing noise from the hallway. The bed was really comfortable but the sheets were not clean. It looked like they skipped changing them from the last guest, so I switched to the other double bed that looked clean. The breakfast was decent. If in the area again, I plan to try one of the other lodging options. « less

This is a very nice hotel. Our room was spacious with a king bed, sofa, fridge, microwave. The bathroom was large and had ample hooks on which to hang things when you're in the shower (Nice touch! More hotels should do this!) The bed was comfortable; we both slept well. It's off a busy street (State), but the property is set back a bit, so we didn't hear a thing at night. You're a short drive to campus. We'd definitely stay here again. « less

This is one of the top three hotels in Athens and nicely located. Most guests are likely in town for Ohio University purposes. The rooms and lobby were very nice and the parking was secure and convenient. The breakfast offering is a great feature while the quality was somewhat average but fresh and nicely displayed. Would definitely stay here again. « less

I had a nice stay that began with a warm welcome at 12:30 in the morning. The property is clean and quiet. The breakfast bar is well attended to. The eating area is warm and inviting. The TV was not too loud.
I used the business center and also took advantage of the whirlpool n the pool area.
