From some of the reviews I read around the internet, I thought I would walk into a nightmare, but for the price I just couldn't pass it up! Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised. The front desk associate was MORE than helpful and greeted me immediately. She was nice, friendly, and got me checked in very fast. I got my key and headed to my room. The room was what I expected it to be. The bed was okay and the linens in the room were fresh and clean. I had everything I needed. This hotel was not luxurious by any means, but for the price you really can't beat the value. If I stay in St Peters/St Charles area again, I will definitely go back to enjoy the indoor pool and hot tub. « less

I stayed with my sister and her kids, 2 nights, and we had a good experience. It is not a fancy, beautiful hotel but we felt it was clean and suitable for the stay. The younger children loved the pool and the fact that you could swim inside and go under the tarp to swim outside. No breatkfast to speak of but plenty of dining spots in the area. All in all we were satisfied, particularly with the price we paid, very affordable. « less

I was really concerned about the reviews for this hotel but it was the most affordable for us and very close to where we needed to be.
The rooms were clean, the beds super comfy, our room came with a small fridge and microwave even though we didn't ask for it and we didn't pay extra for it. Amazing water pressure in the shower. Good breakfast selection. Pool area was really nice and open and was a great place for our family to come meet up with us in the morning and decide our plans for the day.
The best part? The staff. EVERYONE was super friendly, super nice and super helpful. We will definitely stay there again. « less

I did a lot of research online before booking and seeing some of the comments on different site about this hotel I was quite nervous about booking it. Due to the holiday weekend and my friend wanted to keep the price down we decided to go through with it. Arriving we found the exterior of the hotel to be very sketchy looking. Upon parking the car and walking in we were hit by some funky smells (old building smell) but continued on to a nice lobby area. The gentleman at the counter was very helpful in taking care of us and anything that we need to accommodate us. The elevators in the building do make some noises, smell old and do slightly bounce when getting in them but we had no problems w/ them. Our one king non-smoking room was decent. Bed/sheets were clean and comfortable, pillows comfortable, floor clean, bathroom was clean and everything worked. Were there things in the rooms that needed updating, yes but for the price we paid it was a nice hotel. My friends that stayed there were smokers and had to check out several rooms do to the air conditions not being cold enough for them. A couple of the 4 smoking rooms we checked out had some wallpaper the was in the process of curling up. But we had some problems with Expedia promising us a king non-smoking so the first night they were put in a double smoking room but we were told that 5 king smoking rooms would be available the next day. When I talked to the lady (larger black lady w/ glasses) she was very rude. She told us that non were available even though the guy from the day before left a note to make sure we got in one of the king smoking rooms. She said one was available but wasn't sure if it would get cleaned. She then told us she would be glad to book my friends in another hotel since they couldn't accommodate us. So when my wife asked her if she'd rather lose the business than clean the room that was available she had no problem doing that. I just found it weird that she wanted to lose business rather than making cleaning the room high priority. The pool which was an indoor/outdoor pool was nice. The hot tub was nice and hot but if you turned the jets on they worked nice when nobody was in there but as soon as the water went higher then barely blew. They had a nice area around the pool where people could sit and play cards, play pool, arcade or just sit and read. There were lots of places to eat in the area, or even if you wanted to do some shopping it was just down the road. They do have a continental breakfast in the morning which consist of danishes, fruit, cereal, bagels, juice, yogurt, and coffee. Overall I wouldn't have a problem staying there again with my family. We did have a good time minus the one hiccup we did have with one of our rooms. The manager of the hotel was a very friendly and reasonable guy. I hope this was helpful to you and makes your choice easier. « less

I just stayed there for the 1st time. I saw the reviews here at Tripadvisor "after" making my reservations and got very concerned. My fears were not confirmed. The hotel is nice for the price that you pay. I think it is a bargain. Staff was very friendly and pleasant. I checked my bed and did not find any bed bugs. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean. I did not smell any mildew, like some other reviewers are suggesting. They have a decent continental breakfast every morning. Also free newspaper. I forgot my shaving razor and foam, that was provided to me free of charge. Pool was closed for renovation but I enjoyed the whirlpool. Overall my stay was very good there, I would stay there again if I have to go there. I think that all the negative reviews regarding Garden Plaza at Tripadvisor are doing it a huge injustice. « less
