We stayed at the Clarion in room 202, facing the pond, last Thursday evening. Check in and check out were a breeze. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. We agreed that everything we needed was there. The refrigerator was quiet and the microwave was available by the bar sink and coffee service. The king size bed was very comfortable and the linens were comfy too. The TV was a nice size. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, ham and cheese available to top them, crispy bacon, potatoes, cereals, breads, muffins, bagels, yogurt, SUPER coffee, tea, and milk, with OJ, too. We were VERY impressed with breakfast. We would stay here again in a minute! « less

Close-to-airport location did not leave a lot of options for nearby dining or entertainment. Enjoyed "The Voice" though, a Frank Sinatra-style singer who was there on Tuesday evening. Free breakfast was okay; really wish these hotels would offer more healthy choices, particularly when alternatives are not in the area. « less

The Clarion not only offers a very nice room and breakfast, their customer service is like non other I've ever experienced. Their rooms are exceptionally clean. I stayed at this hotel with a group tour, however, I also spent some time there on my own. There is a metro that starts at the airport and goes into downtown Portland. When the hotel's shuttle was on the way to the airport for a pickup or drop off and they had room, they would let us ride along so we could catch the metro. This is just one example of their outstanding customer service. The front desk, cleaning staff and food preparers were all gracious and accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel. « less

Never made it past the high and mighty minimum wage front desk employee due to the fact I was using a prepaid card. Just because I use a prepaid card does NOT mean that I am a poor guest...or even poor in general. Perhaps I use this sort of card to be discreet and not have a charge on my regular statement. Afterall, isn't that exactly what this type of card is perfect for (hypothetically of course, but alas apparently not in the real world) and should it not be honored ANYWHERE visa is accepted, just like the ad says. There was over a thousand dollars available but the clerk was simply refusing to run it. I can not tell you how embarrassing this was in front of my guest and even other hotel guest waiting to check in were treated to a unnecessary display of attempted righteous indignation by the clerk. Shouldn't they indicate this on their information with orbitz or expedia and allow their client to pass in lieu of another place of genuine hospitality? I would most certainly take my business elsewhere versus enduring the humility I experienced that night! « less

You are more than welcome to present a traditional credit card at check in and pay with your prepaid card upon check out.
