We had high hopes for this property, but sadly was disappointed. The room was clean, the bed good, bath rather small. The restaurant was enjoyable but a bit expensive. All in all if the rates were lower this would be a good 3+ star property. Staff seemed unengaged but friendly if asked for assistance. « less

Room was a little tired and dated. Air con was rattly/noisy and the front panel fell off the wall when the door slammed. Rooms could do with a refresh/modernization.
Very friendly, helpful service in both the restaurant and the bar.

As a child, I had the great fortune of spending several weeks at the Poe Cottage on the grounds of the Dearborn Inn. This was many years ago, and I decided to see how a current experience would stack up with memories of the Dearborn Inn from my childhood. The Dearborn Inn is a historic site, having been built by Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Company back in 1931. Despite its 80 + years of age, the Dearborn Inn has received loving and caring treatment, most recently, through the management of the Marriott Hotel group. I can assure you that this hotel is unlike your usual Marriott hotel experience. I was fortunate to stay for 2 nights at an excellent rate (probably as it was early in the season).
The staff-from valets; front desk; restaurants are all cheerful, knowledgeable, and go out of their way to help. All the rooms have had recent renovations: however, as this is an old hotel, room sizes DO vary. I requested to stay in the original part of the Inn and was given a very quiet, peaceful room on the 4th floor (only 12 rooms on this floor). As a solo, I found the room more than adequate in space, with one queen size bed. Beds and linens were exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom was small, but updated throughout, with plenty of thirsty towels. Rooms come equipped with large screen HD tvs; desks set up for work; the usual complimentary toiletries; ironing board and iron as well as hairdryer was located in a large and deep closet. Rooms do not have refrigerators; however, there are ice, soda, and snack machines available and as a nice touch, there is ice water with fruit slices available at all hours adjacent to the front desk.
The grounds of the hotel are truly beautiful and were being taken advantage of by several large wedding parties and proms throughout the weekend that I stayed. Note: I found my room adequately soundproofed from inside and outside noise, despite weddings and proms.
I tried food and service at the Ten Eyck and Edison dining rooms: food was outstanding with interesting choices/presentations and wait staff that were prompt and courteous.
I was so glad to return to a place I remembered fondly as a child and to find it so lovingly attended to. Keeping up old buildings is expensive and challenging: however the Ford Company and the Marriott Group are doing their best to give the Dearborn Inn another 80+ years of comfort and happiness to guests. If you have need of a larger room, please let the staff know at time of booking as I do think that this will help you to enjoy your experience the most: larger rooms are to be found in the McGuffey and Burbank wings that were constructed in the 1960's: just a few steps away from the Inn. « less

Walked in and it seemed as if I was taken back in time with the decor. Elegant is the word I could be looking for. The room was cozy and the bed was comfortable. Only had one issue and that was my dog. Some how they found out I had sneaked it in. I was caught off guard with a knock on the door. Yup you guessed it was asked to take it out the room. It was worth a shot. She is a porkie so it's not like a German Shepard or anything like that. Gym was nice and definitely did the job with my shirt off (females) wink*. Got a Priceline deal on this hotel when I made a bid $100 was the cost. Just bid on the four star Dearborn hotel and you'll get that one every time. No bed bugs to report. « less

Thank you for taking the time to post this review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the ambience of the Dearborn Inn, as well as our fitness center facilities. Regarding our no-pet policy: we love pets, and have had the opportunity to host numerous fund-raising galas for organizations such as the Michigan Humane Society and the Dearborn Animal Shelter. However, we do have a no-pet policy, as well as a non-smoking policy, out of respect to guests who may have allergies or other concerns. Thank you again for staying with us, and for providing your feedback. We hope you will return soon!

I stayed here for a business conference recently. I have rated my stay poor due to the customer service we received. We stayed in a double bed room in one of the out lying buildings. The room was fairly clean except for a few stains here and there, and some crumbs left on the floor. It was a pretty nice size with a big desk, tv, good bathroom, and comfortable bed. The conference rooms were very pretty and the food that was provided by the hotel during the conference was excellent. The grounds were also very nice looking. Our room was a connected room but we didn't know the people on the other side of the door, those people decided that smoking in their room was acceptable and apparently the Dearborn Inn thinks smoking in a non smoking room is ok too! We came back to our room after a long day at the conference and our room reeked of cigarette smoke, it was almost hazy. We could tell it was coming from our next door neighbors room because we could smell it strongly under the door between the rooms. We called the desk to report the problem, and they reported they would be right over to check that out. 30 or so minutes later we got a call that they would be sending someone over soon. By that time the smoke had cleared a bit because we had opened the window. We heard nothing about what they were doing or had done after that phone call. Later on in the evening after we had got back from dinner, the room once again started smelling very strongly like smoke and started getting hazy. Once again we called the desk, we were told that they had checked on the problem before and found nothing, but they would send someone over again. The smell was so bad that we both started coughing and our eyes were watering. Aprox. 10 min later we noticed a security person walk past our room and then walk away. We opened the door to ask her to come inside but she never came back by. Nothing more was done they never knocked on their door, called their room NOTHING!! So apparently If you're a smoker, and you stay here, go right ahead and smoke in your room, they don't have any problems with that. No apologies were given, nothing. For this very fact I will not be staying here ever again, and will not recommend anyone saying here. If they let people smoke in their non smoking rooms, what else do they let people do here? They apparently don't care much about their hotel, or their customers. « less

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review to provide feedback on your recent stay. I'm truly sorry that your stay was negatively affected by a smoker that ignored hotel policy and state law --- and that we were unable to determine where the smoking originated from. Marriott was a leader in the non-smoking movement throughout our hotels, instituting the policy nearly seven years ago. Two years ago, Michigan became a smoke-free state inside all public facilities. We take this policy and law very seriously at the Dearborn Inn, and levy significant fees against violators due to the expense of cleaning, and the harm to our reputation. I assure you that staff members reported to the area of your guest room on multiple occasions, and regret that we could not identify the offending guests. Based on our manager-on-duty notes, I hope to contact you to resolve this to your satisfaction. I invite you to contact me at mhrs.dtwdi.gm@marriott.com, or at 313-271-2700 so that we can further demonstrate our concern.
Sincerely,
Bob Pierce
