An I.M.Pei classic that transcends time and fashion, Four Seasons Hotel New York is quintessentially Manhattan. It is a perfect example of the city's stylish elegance and culinary sophistication, establishing a more significant urban presence year after year. Located on 57th Street between Madison and Park Avenues, it provides the ultimate location for a New York experience, whether it be shopping, a stroll through Central Park, an afternooon in one of the 50 museums New York has to offer or an evening on Broadway.

The Four Seasons Hotel on 57th in NYC is a premiere hotel with a staff who aim to please...woe be unto he who doesn't succumb to their tender ministrations. The hotel reminds me of a description my old boss gave me about his wonderful secretary - "I tried to run things my way for about two days, but it was easier and better to give in....now I am her minion."
I am a willing Four Seasons minion. I stayed at the Boston property with my first wife, and the New York crew were well aware of this when I checked in during 2008, following my separation, joined by my lovely girlfriend, who has since been kind enough to consent to be my wife. Marcia went with the flow, nodding and smiling to the various "Mrs. C" references....and since they were pleased to send along some lovely vintage champagne, we decided to get married rather than correct the all-so-willing-to-please staff. Yeah - the service is THAT good.
Money should ideally not be an object when staying here, as the budget options are thin on the ground and the price of room service coffee, while worth it, exceeds that of a full family brunch upstate. But let's say you want to lay it all out for a long weekend in the city and get concierge access to events attended by the Thurston Howell III lockjaw set - this is your home base, and your vowels will draw out as your consanants slur through high tea, old school martinis and tickets to shows you can't find on google.
Put this weekend on your bucket list, but be warned - unless you are fortunate in your choice of girlfriends, as I was, do call ahead and explain the necessaries in advance. « less

The management and staff at the hotel are excellent. I have stayed at this hotel 3 times since the beginning of the year, with one stay over two weeks. I had some minor problems on my first stay, but the quick response of management left me feeling very good about their commitment to my comfort. Since then, everything has been nothing short of excellent. Prior to the shut down for renovations, I had used the Regency Hotel for approximately ten years. When they reopen, I will not be going back. The Four Seasons, New York has worked to earn my business and loyalty! « less

This hotel is five star all the way. The staff are attentive efficient and polite. The rooms are large and welcoming with warm neutral colour tones to calm the tired traveller. I travel a lot and have experienced many New York hotels and will now make the Four Seasons my first choice for any future stay. « less

Magnificent public spaces, with the Garden restaurant on your right and the bar, where you can have delicious scones with your tea, on the left. The bar manages to be lofty and cosy at the same time, with huge windows framing leafy views of 57th Street. Kudos to the design team for a fantastically classic yet modern gathering place. Service is excellent from the welcoming door men to the front desk to the wait staff. As for the rooms, here is where Mr. Hyde comes in. Not that they are evil, far from it! Very spacious and comfortable with the smoothest sheets and comfiest beds ever. But the design is a bit blah, a bit corporate, with weird, badly scaled art and monotone color schemes (at least in the room we stayed in.) And one more nit to pick. Why can five star hotels not serve decent espresso drinks? Forget the happy face latte art, give me quality coffee, please. « less

Dear Jane H,
Thank you for your wonderful comments about our space -- IM Pei just turned 96 this past week so we are very honored to have such an iconic landmark. Your points about our rooms are very valid and we will pass along to upper management. I will let our chef and food and beverage director know about our espresso drinks so we can train our staff in the appropriate manner. We look forward to an opportunity to welcome you back soon.
Sincerely,
Tiffani Cailor

"Everything worked out great. We are at the end of our season, but I will definitely use you in the future for my travels needs for 2007. The rates you gave were very competitive--better than ones that I get online or over the phone." V.V. - Blacksburg, VA
