If so then you should probably reconsider your destination. You don't go to Miami to chill in the hotel room but to enjoy the night life, relax beachside and meet new people.
The location is central to much of the night life buzz. The lobby aesthetics are modern and well kept. As some people have pointed out the rooms do lack some of the amenities of other, more expensive hotels, but that's why it's not as expensive as them! Yes the room are pequeñito, but they're still mono. The inside was decorated well and if there wasn't much room to move around in, that's what the dance clubs and street is for. Also, for those people that are looking to meet people for potential further adventures, don't overlook the power of an hour long open bar as part of the cost of stay (don't forget to tip your bartenders!). « less

It was ok! We had a short stay (3 Nights) and it was fine for that but if I stayed longer I would look for something bigger. We were there over Christmas which I thought would be a problem, but it wasn't there are plenty of people around and the stores were a buzz so we didnt miss out in the Miami experience. 3 adults to a room was a tight squeeze. Slightly run down. But when your paying low $$ you get what you pay for. The staff were friendly. The bar in the lobby was a great way to start a night out. Also there are stairs ONLY, no elevators… so if you have a lot of luggage prepare to carry it yourself. The staff may help. Tip if they do. & there are no views. Location is perfect! It’s a short walk to the beach, and Ocean Ave. Close to Walgreens and clothing stores and nice places to eat. I wouldn’t normally recommend this hotel. But we stayed based on location and a low price so if that’s your game plan then Shelley Hotel isn’t bad at all. « less

Here's the sum up: The Hotel Shelley is "you get what you pay for". I personally am not a huge fan of boutique hotels, however, in South Beach, if you want to stay near Ocean Drive and not empty your pockets, boutique hotels are all you have to choose from. The customer service isn't bad, but it's not anything to brag about, either. It's just...nonchalant. The bartender at this hotel is super friendly and attentive, however. There is a happy hour from 7-8, but what they don't tell you is that it's not unlimited--two drink maximum. So if you're looking to get all your booze in that hour before heading out, it's not going to happen. The rooms are small--really small. Four of us stayed in a room with two double beds, and we made it work, but we are all close friends. You wouldn't wanna stay here with just an acquaintance, because there's not a whole lot of space to move around.
The location is super fabulous! It's a block from the beach and Ocean Drive, about 4 blocks from Lincoln Square, and right in the middle of a safe area full of cuban restaurants and coffee shops. If you want to experience the full culture of Miami, this place is definitely in a great spot for that.
In short, if you will be staying in your room more than being out of it, don't stay here. Pay the extra for the Hilton or the Loews. But if you just need a place to sleep while you enjoy Miami, this is an affordable place. Plus, it has a free airport shuttle to and from Miami airport. « less

You get what you pay for! It was the most reasonbly priced place to stay in southbeach & theres several reasons why: 1st, its an old building thats been particially refurbished, old toilets that run, then walls > we literally heard the couple next door gettin' it in. Theres no elavator, be prepared to walk up the stairs w/ ur luggage, no pool, and room service/ ice is across the street at their sister hotel. The television was fuzzy & our room was not cleaned until after we'd asked about 3 or 4 times. The door keys didnt work & required reprogramming daily ... In addition to housekeeping Not speaking nor understanding English. Be prepared to spend an additional $100 dep upon arrival for the mini bar & snacks in the room. If you dont consume any, your suppose to receive a refund of such said funds ... Umm, the view from our room was of an old building & ally-next door. The sink clogged up, in which they did promptly send maintenance staff to repair. One of the bartenders was very rude. Free drinks between 7&8 daily is a drink of the hotels choice. The shuttle only runs from the airport to the hotel, no other usage avail. Everything is within walking distance, eating, shopping, the beach, you name it > its all there but unfortunately this hotel is not. With a few repairs, upgrades & tlc it could truly be a goldmine. The location is perfect! « less

Hello Estin1976,
Thank you so much for taking your time to post your honest and extensive feedback, for all of our future guests to read! We are an Art Deco hotel therefore the structure is old. We were aware of the issue that you experienced with your toilet? Sometimes people are louder then they should be when they are having fun. I am terribly sorry that you had to hear them! You are able to get ice from the lobby downstairs as well as across the street. Our cleaning staff has a certain routine that they need to follow in order to get each and every room clean and ready. Perhaps your room was at the end of their list, unless you needed immediate service. The key cards are deactivated when holding them next to certain cell phones. You do not spend an extra $100 when you stay with us, this is a hold. The hold on your card is for incidentals and almost every hotel does this. The hold is released as soon as you check out from our hotel. The mini bar is not free therefore the items from there are for a cost. You are able to pay for them as you check out with another form of payment, it doesn't have to come from the hold. I am sorry to read that the sink clogged up, but glad to read that our staff was there to correct the issue immediately! The complimentary cocktail hour is one of our guests favorite amenity. We provide well liquor such as vodka, gin and tonic with the choice of juice or soda to mix. Our complimentary shuttle is a round trip shuttle that runs during certain hours and 7 days a week. Your feedback is appreciated!

We had a wonderful time staying at the Hotel Shelley and plan to come back!! Our room was clean and comfortable, we enjoyed the amenities the hotel offers and the lobby was SO MUCH FUN! Also, the hotel staff was AMAZING - everyone from the front desk, to the bartenders, to the concierge! The Hotel Shelley has become our preferred hotel when visiting Miami in the future!!
The ONLY flaw is that the room was very small, however, it's South Beach!! We only used the room to sleep and shower! « less
