This is not a typical Hampton. It is in a renovate historic older building in downtown Birmingham. The location is good and a short trip to the airport (10 to 15 mins). The rooms are on par with a typical Hampton although the room layout is not typical due to the constants of the building. Breakfast area was recently renovated. Good bar in the hotel with a good wine selection. I understand that it is frequented by the local business people. « less

Thank you for making our first trip to Birmingham wonderful and helping me get a handicap accessible room at the wedding party discount! My husband and I came for our friend's wedding at the Botanical Gardens and we were thoroughly impressed with not only the area but the service of the staff and the beauty of the hotel. « less

Not your typical Hampton Inn and not really in a good way. If you read my reviews you know I am usually a big fan of Hampton Inns. It is in a renovated historic building in downtown Birmingham which is nice from the exterior and the public spaces including the restaurant are very nice. Everything falls apart when you get to the room. My room was maybe 200 sq. ft and I understand that is pretty typical of hotels within historic buildings. What was not typical was that the room was not kept up very well. The carpet was stained, coming up in areas and falling apart. The bed and pillows were not up to the comfort standards I have come to expect at Hampton Inns. The HVAC system was terrible, the AC would click on and blow righ on the bed so it would be freezing and then would quickly heat up. So I was cold and hot all night, not the best nights sleep. It was not terrible, but I cannot really recommend it. I was only there for one night so it was not a huge deal, but if you will be staying for an extended period of time I might look somewhere else. « less

We visited in May 2013. While the outside of the hotel looks lovely, and the main areas are nicely renovated, the room itself was disgusting. Our room smelled strongly of mildew, and the carpet was filthy and soiled. We used the valet service and waited twenty five minutes to get our car out one morning, making us late for our appointment. The quality of the staffing was inconsistent. Some staff were quite professional, and some were unfriendly and unhelpful. Would not recommend this property at all. « less

Breakfast was poor and the 4pm check in time is terrible. Not user friendly for sure. Was not comfortable with parking our car on the street although there was valet. When we arrived the valet was backed up and we had to back out in the street to let some cars out. This is a downtown hotel and realize that space is limited. We did not want to wait on valet parking as with the late check in time and hurry to the room and clean up for our event we only had 1 hour to do all of this. Pillows were tiny on the bed as well. I have never had a bad experience at a Hampton and maybe it was just my turn. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"I had never heard of your website, but my nephew has hotel experience and mentioned it. This is the first time I have had to book a block of rooms for a family wedding, and I was somewhat concerned about how to go about it. Your website made it easy, and and I would highly recommend it." K.C. - Catskills, NY
"By the way, I was very pleased with your site's service! It turned out that our group got a better room price reservation at a comparable hotel to the one we were considering. Since our small jazz band doesn't really have any budget to speak of, price was an important consideration and thanks to your service we were able to save money without sacrificing on the quality and amenities of the hotel. Thanks again! We'll be using you again, I'm sure, for future trips." D.R. - Auburn, WA
