This hotel was wonderful in every way-clean, modern room, charming New Orleans style courtyards and exteriors (there are 5 buildings grouped around 3 courtyards). The pool and hot tub were great (I did ask them to clean the pool the first day as leaves had blown into it). The staff were lovely-all you had to do was ask and they bent over backwards for you. The location is terrific-right on St Charles in the lower Garden District on the streetcar line. Easy access to Magazine St and the Quarter. The $3 day transit pass made getting around effortless. We loved it here and will definately stay here again. I'm glad I wasn't scared off by the "I expected the Hyatt" reviews! This is real New Orleans ambiance. « less

My first trip to New Orleans. great location. trolley picks up right outside so you can go anywhere for $3 per day fare. the staff was awesome - especially Chiara. she will go out of her way to make your stay special. The room was nothing special - but it was clean and they had great pillows. I loved the outdoor areas - lots of charming wrought iron furniture and places to relax. I thought the free breakfast was really good - good coffee - cereals, juice, waffles, eggs, sausage. I would definitely stay here again. « less

The first room was up 3 flights of stair and no elevator. We walked into the room and were greeted with a water leak over the sink and dripping on the floor. Back down the stairs and off to a new room. Barely adequate. Dirty carpet that was never vacuumed our entire stay. Morning breakfast was scant and packaged food with some hard boiled eggs that were so overdone that the yolks were green. The front desk people were friendly and tried to do the right thing but their efforts were hampered by an old hotel that desperately needs a freshening up and a good scrub. Location is great and it is easy to get to great restaurants and the trolley but that hardly makes up for a running down hotel that needs cash investment into the rooms and not just the front desk. The tapas restaurant next door was creepy and several people smoking pot outside the front door on the weekend. A little too interesting if you have kids with you. Stay for the location and approach it with open eyes and wear slippers! « less
