I had made last minute reservations to this place as we found ourselves in Portland without actual planning. The price was okay and the pictures seemed descent. Upon checking in, all I hoped for a clean room and some snooze time. Even though the manager at the desk had offered us a quieter room with two queen beds (originally I booked a king), we still chose our original room. The room was prepared as usual, everything as most old hotels rooms look. There were stains on the carpet, the armchair also had suspicious stains. Few long hairs on the wall in the bathroom and a hair clinging to the sheets in our bed. (I just told myself that was due to laundry static, when sheets get pulled out of the dryer). I kinda hated showering as the shower head was barely puking out any water, it was more of a rinse and washing long hair or any extensive time in the shower would be out of the question. There wasn't much I could do at the moment, so I decided to close my eyes on everything and just enjoy the stay. Yes, the trolleybus was right outside our windows, and it was loud until 1 am but we went out till 12 anyways and upon return to the room, we had fallen asleep very quickly. Overall, a very minimal "okay" place to crash at after a long 4 hour drive into the city. I wouldn't stay here for a second night. « less

Seriously. There were stains on the walls, furniture, sheets, and pillow cases. There were large wet spots on the carpet - none of us felt comfortable enough to walk around the room barefoot. There was a black, moldy spot on the ceiling above our toilet, which must have been coming from the toilet in the above room. Two of our pillow cases were dingy brown. The mattress on one of the beds was broken down the middle. The smell of Lysol in the room was so strong that even after coming home, the clothes that I never took out of my bag had to be washed because they still smelled like Lysol. Our sliding glass door - which had cracks from floor to ceiling - had a note that we were not to open it. The room was so hot and musty it was difficult to breath, let alone sleep. They gave us two towels for our room - there were four of us in a two double bed room - when we asked for a couple of extra towels, housekeeping told us that there weren't any additional towels in the entire hotel, that they were all being washed - so we all had to share two towels. Yes, this hotel is close to the MAX, but those rail lines go all over the town - stay somewhere else on the MAX lines. This hotel is NOT worth it! I'm not a very high maintenance person and I certainly wasn't expecting the Hilton - but I can't understand how this place even meets 'code' standards. It was so disgusting that leaving this place without lice would be a relief. If we hadn't booked through a travel website, and therefore charged the entire balance before we showed up, there isn't a chance we would have stayed these two nights here. « less

I stayed at this place last year(see previous review) and finding myself back in Portland and in the same neighborhood (Lloyds Center/Convention Center) I decided to stay here again.
And it's pretty much the same. Older hotel, a bit shabby and run down, good rates, nice staff, easy access to the rail system. The bed was firm and maid service was fine . I was in a room away from the MAX line and on the fourth floor-these tend to be a bit more quiet-I requested this and they were happy to accommodate me.
If I really had to look for something to complain about I would say the wifi was pretty slow.
If you want something nicer, you can find it close by and spend more money-if you're just looking for a place to sleep and keep your stuff, its fine.
I got breakfast at the Red Lion across the street-its a little less plastic than the Denny's thats about a block further up. Speaking of the Red Lion, if you go there for breakfast and want to access their WiFi, ask at the front desk and they will give you the access code. « less

"I had never heard of your website, but my nephew has hotel experience and mentioned it. This is the first time I have had to book a block of rooms for a family wedding, and I was somewhat concerned about how to go about it. Your website made it easy, and and I would highly recommend it." K.C. - Catskills, NY
