This is not an easy hotel to find if you are unfamiliar with the area. It's located on Old Poplar Pike which is just below the current Poplar Pike. If you approach it from Poplar Pike don't blink or you might miss the turn off.
The hotel itself is pretty decent -- the rooms are nice, clean and up to date. The lobby is fine and the breakfast area is spacious. Internet is free and a computer is available in the lobby for those that rely on that form of access.
The major downside is the active freight line in back of the hotel. Last night trains ran regularly and I had a bit of trouble getting to sleep. We were in an even numbered room. When you check in you might consider asking for an odd numbered room. « less

It's true it was a bit tricky to find but once we were in, the staff was extremely helpful and cordial. The suite was lovely- very well maintained, very comfortable.The ONLY downside was that we had an even numbered room, and there is a train behind it! It;s not too frequent, but it was kind of a surprise to hear the train outside. It wasnt super loud, so I dont think it would wake most people, but it was just surprising to me as I do read reviews here and never saw a mention of it. Other than that, the hotel was great- typical residence inn (which is a good thing). Also very lovely area. « less

First I have to tell you that this place IS NOT easy to find, even with GSP. We had to go to the other Residence Inn on Poplar Pike and get directions..but find it we did and Im glad we stayed here! We had a second story one bedroom with full kitchen and living area. so its just like the others...no...We were invited to join the other guests for dinner that evening between 5-7 for pizza and beer. well what a great time. We met some people that are there for an extened stay, enjoyed the kids (it was like being home, kids everywhere..great stuff!) and the pizza well...Jerry makes the best pizza ever..and put that with a couple of free beer..bingo! A nice breakfast in the morning and we were good til lunch. Had a nice chat with Gabrielle at the desk...great girl..everyone was very helpful and pleasant.
We had read about the train noise..heard it afew time during the night but wasnt that distrubing. The room wasnt as clean as I would like..splatters on the bathroom door and a sticky kitchen floor. And they do allow pets and we saw some "landmines" on the front lawn but everything else looked and worked great... Thanks for a great 3 nights and days..... « less

I took the time to try my GSP and yes is does make the location a little hard to find with putting in our correct address, however if the word “Old” is taken out from the address it will find the hotel easily.

We scored this hotel room at a great price through a Priceline bid. We could not have been happier for the price. Good service upon check in, and an excellent room. Spacious suite with full eat in kitchen - we're talking oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, etc. Bathroom had a sink outside the toilet/shower area, which is always a plus. Bed was very comfortable. Only downside is that the bed was only a queen. When you are used to a king, that makes a big difference. Get king sized beds, and this will easily be our favorite hotel in Memphis. « less

Booked into Residence Inn in Memphis. Full breakfast included and i mean a full breakfast. Tonight we had all you can eat pizza and salad from 5-7PM. They have a different menu every night and on Thursday have a managers party...free. That's worth, between breakfast and dinner, I'd say 50$ a day. Now the kicker.......its also free beer from 5-7PM!!!!
If you had 2 kids you would probably stay free based on a AAA rate and all the free food and beer. The staff are fantastic!!! Its very convenient to downtown, just take the street in front of the hotel (Poplar Ave) and go straight for 8 miles. « less
