No, it's not a resort but for the price, we thought it was just fine. We had a great view and could drive to yachats and newport quickly. We were able to bring our dogs which is a bonus for us. It's nothing fancy but it was clean and nice for the price. « less

I recently stayed at the hotel with friends for weekend courses on cooking organic, sugar free, gluten free, and dairy free meals. The food was amazing, but I ended up getting much more than cooking out of the experience. It was about connecting to food, yourself, and the land. The hotel was not flashy or luxurious, but the accommodations and the amazing location bring a sense of simplicity and connection to nature. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The yoga instructor was awesome. It is a short walk to an amazing beach. I would go back any day. « less

I recently stayed at the Soul Retreat after taking a drive out to the coast. I had never been to Waldport before but found it to be a great location. Just a short drive to the aquarium, Newport, Yahats and not too far from Lincoln City shopping. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful pointing out where I might like to go exploring and for a meal while there kitchen was getting redone. The view from my room faced the bay which was very calming and I never slept better. The bed was awesome! The manager explained to me that the hotel was undergoing a complete renovation and would soon boast a 5 star restaurant, upgraded rooms and a number of other services more in line with a spa retreat. It sounded wonderful and I look forward to the changes. All in all, for a place where I was just hoping to get a clean room and a good nights sleep, I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is driving on the coast or simply looking for a nice place to relax. « less

My wife and I have yet to decide on this one. Soul Vacations is a very strange place. We stayed there Valentines weekend and it was all but deserted. We saw only the hotel clerk the evening we checked in, never anyone else. The weather was bad and the sky dark which gave the halls a "Shining" feeling. They advertise Soul Vacations as a yoga, soul renewing health hotel. However, our room looked like a set from a low-budget 1970's porn movie. Lots of mirrored walls and a large, oddly lit hot tub. The finish work was poorly done and the room had an unfinished feel to it. Even though we had no bad experiences here, we will probably not stay again nor recommend it. « less

I stayed at the Soul Retreat about a month ago for 5 days. I was told upon check-in that the retreat was under new management, and that if I needed anything at all, to please let them know, as they would do their very best to accommodate me. The hotel is very very clean, probably the cleanest hotel I have stayed in over the past 5 years. (and I am including very expensive hotels in San Francisco as well as Seattle). The room I stayed in faced the beautiful bay, was very very quiet, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the water pressure was excellent, and there was plenty of hot water! I met the new team over the course of my stay, and they were very kind and very helpful when I had questions about the area or inquired about the hotel itself. It sounds like they were quite thrilled with the new changes being made on site, and that there were many services being added soon that would focus on the "retreat" side of the experience. They also notified me that their once famous restaurant was going to be opening again very soon (by early Summer?), and that it was going to be incredible. I found this hotel/retreat center to be a most pleasant surprise, and I am planning on another trip in June. Can't beat a pleasant staff, a wonderful stay right on the bay, and an escape to the coast that leaves you well rested and feeling genuinely cared for. Highly recommend! « less
