The Yacht Harbor Hotel has been recently renovated and faces the San Diego Harbor. The hotel is situated about a mile away from the airport and is 3 mils away from the cruise ship terminal and central downtown area. Each room features its own balcony, new bedding, a microwave and a fridge, and free wireless internet. Continental breakfast is provided and there is a shuttle available for transportation between the hours of 8am and 8pm from the airport and cruise ship terminal, as well as the train depot. The Yacht Harbor Hotel also offers a business center as well as a small meeting space. There is a heated pool, spa and gym featuring brand new Precor workout equipment. A new hot waffle bar was just added to the free continental breakfast as well.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights before our cruise in April. The hotel was very clean and the front desk staff very helpful. Our room was ready upon our arrival even though we arrived just at check in time. This hotel offers ample free parking which is a real bonus for San Diego. Parking is both above and below ground. The location is very convenient enabling us to walk to several restaurants and stroll along the harbor. As previous reviews have stated the complimentary morning breakfast is fine but the room is sorely inadequate for the number of guests. Our first morning we chose to eat elsewhere and then on our second morning we got there by 6:30 a.m. in order to take advantage of it.
Our only issue related to cruise port transportation. Because of several ships being in port that day the hotel driver was extremely busy. Road construction further complicated the process. We had made reservations with the front desk and their scheduling system seemed very efficient. The driver ran late which was totally understandable. However, we and two other guests were dropped off in front of the port rather than at luggage and passenger drop off meaning we had to transport our baggage for our lengthy cruise ourselves. Being in our 60s & 70s this was a difficult and challenging task. Upon our return, I did communicate my concerns to Best Western and received a prompt detailed reply with apologies and a promise they will investigate admitting that this is an area that can pose issues for various reasons some within their control and others beyond.
In spite of this small issue, we would definitely recommend this hotel. I think our port transportation experience was related to the extenuating circumstances of that particular day and driver and does not reflect on the quality of the hotel itself. « less

We stayed here due to the proximity to the airport. The view at night of the harbor was nice. We caught the airport shuttle in the morning. The shuttle doesn't run at night. The room was, clean, quiet, and comfortable. I believe we had a free breakfast there. Would stay here again. « less

The room is big but the balcony door was not sealed well. The outside temperature is still low during the night although it's in the mid May. We could feel chilly air squeezing in from outside.
It's so noisy that we were waked up by the traffic at 5 am everyday.
The edges of the table is greasy and sticky.
We stayed for three nights. The housekeeper forgot to provide the bath mat on the third day.
The a/c vent sometimes makes strange noise when it's auto turns on or off, like some metal part is not secured in the in-wall pipe. « less

We booked this hotel because it was reasonably priced and had an airport shuttle. When I called for the shuttle at about 8 pm, I was informed that the shuttle didn't operate after 5 pm, and we would need a cab. Since the hotel is close to the airport, that cab ride was not to bad ($15 with tip). The room was clean, but a little small. Unfortuately, the only place to eat after 9 pm is a Denny's several blocks away. « less

Management response from Anka Novasic, Manager
Thank you for your response. I understand the frustration with regards to the airport shuttle hours, however, we do make it a priority to highlight the fact that we operate during limited hours on our personal website, our bestwestern.com page, and any other third party sites we are listed on. I apologize if this information was not made available for you prior to your arrival so that it was not a surprise when you arrived at the airport that the shuttle would not be able to pick you up. With regards to dining options in the area after 9pm, there are delivery options available 24 hours a day as well as a couple other restaurants that serve food until 10pm and 11pm besides Denny's, as well as some 24 hour drive through options. I will make sure going forward that all of our staff is aware of the other options for guests looking for late night dining so that Denny's is not the only option given. Thank you for taking the time to respond back to us regarding your experience and I hope you choose to visit us again!

The Best Western Yacht Harbor Inn provided reasonable value. The rooms were large and clean. The bathrooms were also quite large. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Good views of the Point Loma Yacht Harbor if you reserved a harbor view. We rented our room through our airline website. We were required to pay in advance. Free continental breakfast and toast/waffles that you can make for yourself.
There are a few restaurants within walking distance or if you wish to walk a little longer (about 20 minutes) there are many restaurants in the Pt. Loma marina area.
The rooms have WiFi although in the two rooms we've rented, the signal is a bit weak.
TVs recently upgraded to modern LCD screens. Microwave oven, hair dyer, iron, refrigerators are in the rooms.
I'd stay there again but it is by no means a "fancy" place to stay.
Oh yes, there is some road noise as it is located on Harbor Drive. You'll also hear the flag up/down ceremonies at the Naval Base across the street but the morning one is at 8:15 AM so not too early. « less
