I was part of a group that was in the Bloomington, IN area for a basketball tournament. All the hotels were full, so we opted for Bedford, about 30 miles south. There are three hotels in the area (Super 8, Comfort, and HI Express). The team had to separate since availability was scattered at each ---> I really lucked out with the HI Express after seeing the other two!
Positives (many). It looked new though it was 10 years old. Very clean. Much space in the lobby / sitting area downstairs for groups to assemble. The pool area also had a sitting area with couches, tables, and assorted chairs you don't expect to find in a pool area. Service was wonderful from the front staff (helped suggest a late night pizza place and a local establishment to re-hydrate at). The rooms were standard size. The bathroom had plenty of sink space, a bowed-out shower to give more space, and plenty of towels. Outstanding, comfortable beds.
Negatives. No fan switch for the bathrooms, so the mirrors all fog up during your shower. The free breakfast was subpar if compared to Hampton, Drury, or similar hotels. Not bad, mind you, but a lack of selection.
The hotel is three floors and one long hallway. The elevators are in the middle and I wish they had a stairwell there too, but those were at the far ends. Ice machines only on floors 1 & 3, but is it that much of a hardship to walk up or down a floor for ice? You see, I'm reaching for something else to improve, but honestly, this Holiday Inn Express is one of the better hotels I've staying in recently (in the 2 1/2 star category). « less

We stayed here one night. Price was about $40 higher than room we booked 40 miles away, but at least the hotel surpassed our expectations.

Breakfast food was good, just wish there were more low-cal & low carb options as we are traveling with a diabetic. If ever in this area again, I would stay here! « less
After a bad experience and leaving the Comfort Inn, the folks at H.I.E. welcomed us in with open arms and made room for us even though they were booked up....

After a bad experience and leaving the Comfort Inn, the folks at H.I.E. welcomed us in with open arms and made room for us even though they were booked up. They just finished a million dollar renovation and it is beautiful . The wonderful manager on duty , Kim, upgraded us to a suite for free and made sure we were happy and comfortable. The room is huge and very luxurious. Even though the hotel was full of teen volleyball players the place was very quiet , we slept like babies . Internet access is super fast and secure and the flat screen t.v. is new. The bathroom in our suite is huge and very clean. Everything is emaculate, not even a dust bunny ! Breakfast the next morning was amazing with so many things to choose from. Cereals, bagels, toast, pancakes, and a hot bar with sausage, eggs and biscuits and gravy. Hot coffee and 4 types of juice ! I cannot say enough about the rooms but more than anything they treated us like real guest and that is the way it should be. Holiday Inn took us in when we needed them and we are grateful ! We were in town for a funeral and staff worked with us to arrive and depart around the visitation and service timings. We were looking for a quiet place and amazingly, the hotel was very quiet. This was the girls' basketball regional weekend and the hotel was fairly full with families and even one of the basketball teams. We were so pleased and the staff helped us accommodate our son's family in one of the junior king suites as all the 2 queen rooms were taken. Hotel was very neat and clean; breakfast was good. (Cool pancake maker, by the way!) Glad we stayed there. « less
