Da Vinci Villa

The Da Vinci Villa has many good features, but the best is its location. It is located in one of the nicest residential areas of San Francisco, which makes it a great place to stay if you want to walk to shops and cafes in a true neighborhood. It is also pretty close to everything: 2 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge, 1 mile from Fisherman's Wharf, 2 miles from Union Square and Chinatown, 2.5 miles from the Convention Center (which is great, as the areas immediately surrounding each of these attractions are often not as nice to stay in). I'd say the honest truth is that this hotel is more of a 3.5 star property, rather than a full 4 star. This hotel is the renovated, re-imagined version of a lower quality hotel that was under prior ownership. So, while the final product is very nice (with excellent details like marble frescoes in the lobby) there is the occasional out-of-place element, like the boardroom being located at the top of a driveway. The rooms are very spacious and most have a killer view of the Golden Gate Bridge. They also have several large suites, which they are very generous with, that can easily house whole families, as well as an outdoor pool area and a daily breakfast room. This is a great property for families, students, or groups with kids, as they can run around the pool, hang out in the 'library' (a large lounge at the front of the property with books, TVs, couches, and internet) or go outside the hotel with minimal fear of the neighborhood. It would be an ok place for a business meeting, but not my first choice. Otherwise, I highly recommend this property.
