Sitting atop the peninsula's rocky cliffs, Sorrento remains Italy's last town of significance on the side of the bay. The next city of importance is Pompeii, long reduced to volcanic ashes. Guests can also choose to enter the city through the high cliffs of Amalfi Drive. Numerous ferry boats can take you in the town, which have once carried the likes of Luciano Pavarotti and Enrico Caruso.
