Property Description
Thornycroft Lodge is nestled in the heart of Horseshoe Valley, on a large country estate resting on the banks of the Nahoon River. The surrounding hills and lush landscape cocoon you in a bubble of tranquility, separating you from the city of East London, which is only a 10 minute drive away.
An 'outdoor living' approach, coupled with uncomplicated designs and natural tones, creates a relaxed atmosphere where you can really put your feet up, taking in the sounds of the valley.
Our spacious guest suites make maximum use of natural light, with large sliding doors opening onto the gardens. Each suite features a queen size bed, safe and clock radio, a separate living area with home entertainment system (TV / DVD / Surround Sound), overhead fan, mini-bar and kitchenette with complimentary tea/coffee and a private bathroom.
The separate living area also features a sleeper couch the size of a 3/4, which can accommodate up to two children under 13 years.
Guests are welcome to make use of our mini video library. Suites are serviced daily and laundry and babysitting services are available.
Full breakfast, light lunches and three course dinners are served in the dining room.
THE SPA
Our spa offers a range of health treatments for men and women, designed to de-stress and rejuvenate. Massage treatments are most popular. To experience absolute bliss, combine one of our massage treatments with a sauna or jacuzzi soak.
ENTERTAINMENT AND FACILITIES
The thatched poolside bar is the heart of the lodge and the ideal way to end the day. Enjoy a game of pool, darts or table tennis, or catch your favourite sport on the big screen. Relax in the hammock with a drink, or soak up the sun on a lilo in the pool.
Other activities on offer: swimming, badminton court, nature walks, bird watching, airstrip for flying model aircraft (bring own aircraft), mountain biking and quad biking (bring own bikes), river and dam fishing (bring own fishing tackle), horseriding nearby*, guided quad biking trail with hired bikes nearby*, paintball nearby*, pristine golf courses nearby*

We are close to Hemingways Casino, East Coast Resorts and the Wild Coast with its beautiful beaches. Our travel desk offers advice on day trips and things to see and do in the East London area.
There is secure parking for bikes and boats. Please notify us upon making your reservation.
THE CAMP
Our newly built camp consists of dorms sleeping 20 people each on bunk beds. It is designed specifically with bigger groups on a budget in mind, and runs on a strict "bring your own bedding, towels etc" basis. There are ample showers, toilets and basins, a dining hall seating 80 people, a kitchen space and a huge braai area.
The rates are very affordable for groups such as schools, churches, sports teams etc.
