We had a group event here and everyone was thrilled with it. The hotel is located right in the gaslamp but has a quiet, small street as it's front, easy valet parking and access. The staff was wonderful all around. The rooms are unique and updated while at the same time historic with much of the original architecture from pre 1900. The only disadvantage I noted was depending on which room and which street it overlooked, there was outside noise from the gaslamp crowd deep into the night since it is located near nightclubs.
