Oglebay is a beautiful resort. There are many acres of trails complete with a lake and lots of deer and Canada geese. It's well maintained and the flowers throughout are beautiful! The accommodations are clean and adequate, but not outstanding. We do like the balconies or small patio areas since we like to be outside. Benches along the trails are very nice for this, too. Our complaint would be the confusion getting around inside Wilson Lodge. floor levels and room numbers don't match (our room number was a B and number beginning with 2, but it was on level 4?) and there are often many turns to make when trying to find a place you're looking for. The food was just good. Normally, I'd give a very good rating, but the CONSTRUCTION going on lowered my rating for this visit. Hopefully, this will be finished before we visit Oglebay again.

Property description

Oglebay Resort includes 256 lodge rooms, and 50 cottages on 1,600 acres. Oglebay's Wilson Lodge features upgraded amenities such as plasma wall mounted televisions, cultured marble vanities, gas fireplaces, heated towel bars, and a colorful new decor. We can now offer our most discriminating guests 5 executive suites for that special board retreat or private reception. We offer championship golf on two 18 hole courses, as well as a Par III and driving range. Our outdoor activities also include tennis, hiking, fishing, peddle boating, and miniature golf. Good Zoo, the only zoo in WV, is surrounded by a small passenger train to the delight of young and old alike. Wheeling and the surrounding area is rich in American history which is reflected in our 3 museums. Inside the lodge, enjoy a swim in our indoor pool followed by an relaxing massage. After your meeting, we invite you to unwind at one of our two restaurants, Ihlenfeld Room for an upscale dining experiencet, or a more relaxed atmosphere and menu at the Glassworks Grill. Wilson Lodge's 15 meeting rooms can accommodate groups of 5 to 500 for annual meetings, conferences, executive retreats and board meetings. Our catering department is second to none providing delicious and imaginative menus for all tastes and budgets.
