Open in 1901, The Strand in Yangon has since become a national Landmark in Myanmar.From the beginning, it was regarded as “the finest hostelry east of the Suez ” and “ patronised by royalty , nobility and distinguished personages ''. The Strandwas reopened in November 1993 after extensive refurbishing and restored to its former glory.A three-storey, Victorian-Style hotel , The Strand is located in the heart of the city. Its colonial charm is apparent- from the rattan furniture to the chandeliers and the black-lacquered ceiling fans. Each of its airy suites combines the resplendence of a bygone era with all the modern conveniences.
