'The best way to survive may not be the most logical way to survive. Logic fades and memory fades – keeping alive is the only thing that motivates people.â€
A coarsely translated Wenatchee proverb that teaches young children the value of survival, perhaps at the cost of other societal value, gives us an acute insight into the way of life in difficult terrains and harsh weathers of interior Washington State.Â
Life in Washington State is often perceived by tourists as the life of peace, tranquillity and serenity. Snow-capped mountains and beautiful lakes, never-drying rivers and adorable rivulets, deep forests and lush meadows, heady snows and cheery rainbows – everything that a man needs from nature is present in abundance in Washington State. Wenatchee Province is no exception to that. But the life of hardship that actually exists here when all the façade of beauty is stripped off presents an opposite case.Â
If you wish to witness both of these extremes in a wholly undiluted form, without resorting to usual tourist hopping and huffing, Leavenworth is the place you should be heading to, come your next vacation time.Â
Leavenworth is a quintessential American small town with all the sights and signs – from boardwalk to main street and corner-stop grocery store to a loud-and-strong local bar adorning its townscape. Established just about 125 years ago, the town falls under the jurisdiction of Chelan County, and has been modelled after the standard template of a generic Bavarian village.Â
In the last few decades, this special modelling has attracted many tourists from the region, as well as from the rest of the country. As a result, today, Leavenworth proudly designates itself as a tourist and resort city, well-equipped with all the amenities tourists usually require.
Talking about that, a mention of Leavenworth hotels is unescapable. That's exactly what we will be dealing with in the rest of this article!Â
Whether your dreams of a rustic American holiday are just brewing or your plans are starting to take a shape, knowing more about hotels in Leavenworth will always help you stay focussed on your itinerary.Â
Cheap Hotels in LeavenworthÂ
Despite being a famous resort town, Leavenworth hasn't lost its original touch of a small settlement. Hence, it's quite easy to find cheap hotels and affordable B&B establishments in the town.Â
Adventure Inn is a safe bet if you are trying to find one suitable pick among many cheap hotels present in Leavenworth. It is a standardized accommodation for solo as well as family travelers. With a large building that is maintained quite nicely, a backdrop of Snowclad Mountains is always going to make for a nice view!Â
Bavarian Lodge can also be looked at as a worthy alternative to Adventure Inn. Even though its rooms are a touch smaller than what tourists would like, the fact that it is a very comfortable and cosy lodge turns things in its favor.Â
To further the Bavarian feel, we would advise tourists to check out Linderhof Inn, a typically Bavarian lodge that stands out from the crowd of affordable Leavenworth hotels due to its authentic Bavarian hospitality.Â
Need Some Luxury? There's Plenty to be had in Leavenworth!Â
Tourist who prefer to turn their vacations into an expensive and elaborate affair need to brace themselves, because what we are going to share here will definitely make them want to visit Leavenworth right away.Â
Housing over three dozen five star properties, Leavenworth is perhaps the only town that manages to fly low and beat the tourism radar in America. Agreed that bigwigs of hospitality industry – Hilton, InterContinental and Hyatt – are absent from making to the luxury scene in Leavenworth, but it hardly makes any difference. The local flavor of five star and regal treatment through home-grown luxury hotels in Leavenworth is good enough to make tourists want to stay forever.Â
Enzian Inn tops the charts in that respect. It's not at all a huge establishment. But very few resorts can hold a candle to its quality of comfort and style. Featuring all the amenities from in-house heated pools to complimentary sauna and spa, it leaves no efforts untried in order to please its guests.Â
Icicle Inn Village Resort, however, provides very steep competition to Enzian Inn. Not trying to be subtle about it, it calls itself the best resort in town, and we couldn't find many facts that can contradict these claims.Â
Hotels Near Leavenworth Airport and Amtrak StationÂ
Leavenworth, quite unfortunately, has no airport of its own. Tourists coming from a fair distance usually land at Seattle Airport and board a bus or Amtrak from there to Leavenworth.Â
As there is no airport in the town, we will shift our focus to Leavenworth Amtrak Station, also lovingly called as 'Icicle Station'. Amtrak Empire Builder train has regular stops at Leavenworth, and it is a convenient way of reaching the town from Seattle or Spokane.Â
There are not many lodges in the vicinity of the station. Typical inns and Bavarian lodges can be found in the area, but it is much better to travel to town – a drive of around 5 minutes – than find a hotel near the station.Â
