...Hacienda Tamarindo, perched on a hilltop in Esperanza - captures the cooling trade winds and panoramic views of the Caribbean,and Esperanza Harbor; from sunrise to sunset. Owner, Linda Vail, a commercial designer, transformed what was once a local restaurant and Dance Hall into a charming boutique hotel. It is furnished and decorated with a lifetime's accumulation of art, antiques and collectibles. A large pool, hammocks, a massage tent and patios are scattered around the tropical gardens.
Vieques Island is home to the largest wildlife reserve in the Caribbean. It is rimmed with dozens of the finest pristine beaches in the world. Indeed, most of our weddings are held right on the beach. And then, what better way to celebrate this so very special occasion with friends and family than an authentic pig roast at sunset on the same beach.
Day starts for you and your guests with an award winning, cooked to order, full breakfast served under the Tamarind tree. Then it's on to enjoy all the island has to offer. We'll help with all the arrangements: snorkeling and diving, sailing and boat tours, sunbathing, paddleboarding, trail riding, surfing, bicycling, beachcombing and last but not least, night tours on the “Bio Bay”, regarded the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world.
Vieques reminds many of Key West, before it was discovered; sitting with best buds in a waterfront bar with an ice-cold beer as locals on Paso Fino horses (still used as transportation) “tap dance” by. The island is blessed with many chef-owned restaurants, all taking advantage of local seafood, tropical fruits and vegetables.
